“Chinese owned 5 star = US 3 star”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I stayed here with a group of American business school students, and it was disappointing after our other International hotel stays throughout Asia. It's Chinese owned which means service is less than stellar, the hotel smelled smoky even though our room claimed to be non-smoking. Amenities were not great (i.e., no wifi in the room). Basically, it's an older hotel that needs serious updating and more focus on international service in order to compete (if they even want to). Most of the hotel staff (i.e., conceirge, waiters) did not speak English. While I know that may sound US-centric, when you travel the world and stay in "international" hotels, it's a basic expectation. No wi-fi in the rooms so the lobby is packed with guests. Location is good though. Gas mask in the closet just in case. Seriously!

This was the first hotel I stayed at during my two-week trip to China and I think it’s just not worth the price. Unfortunately the hotel is in need of some updating inside. You can really see wear and tear in the washrooms inside the suites. Guests should be aware that they do not exchange foreign currency at the hotel instead they direct you to use a foreign exchange machine in the lobby that does not work.

After taking a 13-hour flight to China I was really looking forward to taking a shower once in my room. However to my surprise only boiling hot water was coming through the pipes and I burnt myself badly. A few minutes later a staff member came by to ask about the room, I told her about the boiling water she came into the room and checked, she said that she would have it fixed. The problem wasn’t fixed until 5 hours later and I basically had to discover this myself because no one contacted me to let me know. The rooms are very warm with no temperature controls inside the rooms. I was glad to leave

I stayed here for several days. Location is very good, handy to both the department retail stores, the markets and subway. It was a very comfortable stay in a big and CLEAN room with king size bed - much better than the many other hotels I stayed at while in China. Booked thru Expedia @ NZ$104 plus tax per night. On the whole while staff were very busy all the time I found them to be effecient and attentive. Business services (phone & internet) charges were expensive. The breakfast was exceptional - one of the best, if not the best I had in China - they catered extensively for both chinese and european preferences and it changed everyday. Would stay again

very good position, hotel looks recently renovated.
Very nice SPA and swimming pool.
No wi-fi in the rooms unfortunately.
Rooms are very nice, with a nice and big shower.
Check in and check out has been smooth (that is unusual in China)

Spent three nights and since our group (34) had a late flight, they generously extended checkout to 4 pm at no cost. Had no problems here at all. Lobby is huge and clean with generous seating. Big entrances on two different sides. Close to metro and subway. Breakfast buffet is out-of-sight. Service was excellent. Close to high-end shopping but only 2 or 3 blocks from mom-and-pop shops. Rooms nice size and clean. Big shows (or separate tubs) and show heads are special.

After a failed booking at another hotel, we were offered a room at this one. We were immediately impressed by the grand lobby - based on earlier reviews, they must have finished the renovations sometime before we got there. We stayed two nights in a comfortable and quiet room that showed signs of having been renovated. We chose to eat our first dinner at a wonderful Japanese restaurant in the shopping mall across the street. The second dinner was at one of the inside restaurants - good but very over-priced in our opinion. The breakfast buffet was really good, with a large selection of foods but lacking variety from one day to the next.

On the second morning, we decided to make use of the pool which is located in the gym in the conference area next to the hotel. Now, that was a treat! Upon entry, ladies and gents were separately and quietly ushered into well-furnished changing rooms, supplied with towels, gowns and bathing caps, before being led to the large pool. Afterwards, we were led to showers where soaps, shampoos, combs, moisturisers, etc. were available for use; even our feet were toweled dry for us! This is a must if you visit this hotel.

We walked to the subway, not too far away, to get around Beijing. Tianmen Square and the Forbidden City were within 2 stops away. Getting to the airport was also relatively simple, with 2 transfers, the last being the airport fast train.

Good: Close to Wangfujing, Chaoyang, SOHO, executive floor served excellent coffee on request and good wifi.
Bad: Breakfast was tolerable, but evening tea snacks were terrible, like leftovers from various restaurants put together to deliver a 'mysterious chef's creation'. Shower area invariably got clogged - drains seem to not have been cleaned in years!
Ugly: Sleazy massage cards slipped under the door at night advertising sexy masseuses dressed in pink lingerie...on an executive floor? At least the lady executives could have been spared this?

Room Tip: When in China, always ensure you have a room with a view. Most rooms on the executive floor though h...
