We didn't feel that it was a 5 star hotel, the reception and restaurant was gorgeous but service was average, most of the stuff cant understand or speak English only understand chinese and charged us for stuff we didn't use. rooms were stranded, nice and clean , location was good near the metro station and (Wang Fujing 王府井) one of the main shopping center in Beijing.
It was a nice stay but i think we payed more than the hotel worth.

Staff was super nice and very knowledgable and almost all spoke English which was nice. Daily breakfast buffet was incredible!! Room was comfy and clean but bathroom super outdated. TV only had CNN in English and it repeated the same show over and over again. Location was great with walking distance to a lot of tourist attractions. Subway only 2 blocks away and easy to use. Very short taxi ride (less than $3) to Super Walmart and the Night Market which was very cool.

Room Tip: Higher the floor the better. The hotel is rennovating which is good as the bathrooms were old and o...

Let's cut to the point here,

Beijing International Hotel is located alongside the "main road" of Beijing. The Location isn't the best one if you go for the tourist attractions and so, but not the worst one either - the subway is a walking distance away and one of the main shopping areas (Wang Fu Jing, 王府井) is right around the corner too.

The hotel itself isn't new and the rooms have seen some years - but on Chinese standards this is a very nice hotel. The price was surprisingly affordable for such a Down town - Colossus.

The lobby, the yard, the bar and other facilities deserve nothing else than a big thanks - only the price gave me some chills. Using the gym would have cost a humble 17 € (a pop). Big plus for having the CITS downstairs (they sell the international train tickets and other cool stuff).

The staff were friendly and helpful to us (even that we were travelling in the casuals, not the suits) and everything worked smoothly with them.
I say, with this price there are nicer places to stay in Beijing, but this is definitely not the worst place either - give or take, I could stay here again.

Room Tip: Some floors are better than others due to the recent renevations - ask to see the room before reserv...

What's the point of having so many staff, when they don't help guests?? This government hotel is a great advert for the private sector! Poorly motivated staff clearly just being given make-work jobs. That said, our rooms were comfortable. Air con worked well. Breakfast was good. Avoid in-room bottles of water priced at £6 per bottle!! Worst thing: overpriced bar. I can just about accept paying £9 for a glass of house wine (plus 15% service charge for a 5 metres walk!!) in a lively place which gives the added-value of a great atmosphere - I can't accept it in an empty, lifeless bar, where my group are the only customers! They'd be much better off charging reasonable prices and getting a few guests in there. People are attracted to busy bars (and spend more) but avoid empty ones. Best thing: revolving restaurant on top (for views, not food).

Room Tip: Try to get front facing.

The exterior is very impressive and imposing . The rooms are large and comfortable . What needs improvement is the housekeeping because i found that the daily cleaning was not perfect. The air-conditioning needs an over haul . The hotel is quite old , yet popular considering the number of guests that stay there .The staff is friendly and will attend to your needs immediately. The location is superb . the bus stops just outside the hotel . The metro is walking distance . Across the road there is a huge mall where you get almost everything . Don't worry about crossing the road and confronting Beijing traffic because there is a sub-way. The famous Silk Street is just one station away. The restaurants in the hotel are good but expensive.Don't spend 120 yuans on the breakfast if you want to save money: you can eat at Pizza Hut or Mc Donalds across the road.Bus No 1 takes you to Tiannamen square.

Room Tip: Make sure that the air-conditioning works properly.

We stayed for 4 days. Handy location to 2 subway stops. Good room and great breakfasts. Wifi free in lobby but not great. Very friendly staff like all Chinese. Fantastic long pool for swimmers and a good gym

It was unusual to find the swimming pool closed for repairs during summer, and nowhere to sit in the hotel lobby. As with all major hotels, the drinks in the lobby bar were overpriced, and the desk staff were not interested in helping with tourist information unless you booked through the hotel tour desk. Quite disappointing really. Would only recommend for budget travel.
