We were greeted on arrival here with jasmine tea in the lounge - a lovely surprise after a long flight and a drive through the smog in Beijing! The room was very comfortable and the bed, though fairly hard, was fine.

There is free wi-fi in the lobby but not in the bedrooms.

Breakfast was really good, with a range of Chinese and Western options; dinner similarly so but only Chinese food available.

There is a large and very confusing Carrefour supermarket across the road; Beijing Zoo is a short walk away.

All in all a good place to stay.

We stayed in this hotel as part of a group and consequently do not know the cost. The opulent lobby, with some souvenir stores is quite impressive, and the standard rooms are pretty good, with clean bathrooms, comfortable beds and plenty of English TV channels. The breakfast was pretty good as well with a variety of choices. The pool and gym is in another separete building next door. I did not use these facilites, but they did look ok. The only problem with the hotel is the location-Haidan district. The subway stop-Beijng Zoo station is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel which is not far away, but if you want to go to the centre, it will take you a while. Beijing Zoo and the Aquarium is walkiing distance, and apparently the Summer Palace is not far away, but I would personally, not choose this location. On the positive side, if you are tired of Chinese food, there is a Pizza Hut, and KFC accross the street. Along the eateries, there is a Careefour department store, where you can purchase beer, snacks and other necessities:). All around, not a bad option, but definitely not my choice

I stayed here for business for five days in May. We actually hosted a conference here too. The hotel is pleasant enough - you need to remember smoking is ok everywhere in China so that is a downside but not really a reflection of the hotel. The food is good in the lobby restaurant and the one on the third floor and room service is also good. I tried to take my breakfast out of the buffet area so I could go and set up for my presentation which was a definite no-go. they aren't very flexible around things like that! Overall a good place to stay in a busy city!

We have stayed in this hotel many times over the years. This trip for 2 weeks during summer of 2012. Last summer of 2011 for 2 months. In 2001 to 2002 for about 2 years (yes, almost 2 full years!)

The hotel has kept up to 5 stars international standards over all of these years. Our current room is a standard room which appears to have been redone with the last year or so. Everything in room works and is in excellent condition. Not an over large room, but well laid out and all furnishing to 5 star standards. Internet in room is wired, not wireless. We are using a TP link box to create our own hot spot. Works fine in room. I like the bathroom remodel where the hotel has put a circular shower curtain above a raised grooved stone platform with groves cut to channel the water to the drain that one finds in most China bathrooms. So there is a full sized tub & a usable shower. Very little of the water from taking a shower gets out onto the floor. A clever use of space and function! Hallways on standard room floors have been redone in a soothing palette of colors with soft lighting.

Our kids have been using the large almost Olympic size pool on a daily basis. Water is warm, facilities are clean. Gym has newish equipment and lots of it. Have not seen anyone using it during our nightly swims with the family. Interestingly, the TV's in the gym area are not flat screens but older tube models. Not a big deal, but they looked out of place with all the new exercise equipment. The facilities ae so large that you can actually take a walk around the hotel for almost 30 minutes without going outside. A plus during the cold winters and hot summers.

Restaurants, bar, snack bar all about the same as before. Acceptable 5 star hotel quality but not an epicurean delight. Good but not stupendous. Lots of food places of all types within walking distance. Around the corner is an upscale Chinese restaurant with dinner performances of traditional Chinese music and dancing interspersed with magic, jugglers and other acts.

We like this location on the west side because it is near family, friends and most of our business meeting locations. Now, there is a subway station (Beijing Zoo Station) right down the street about a 5 to 10 minutes brisk walk and from there one can get to almost everywhere in Beijing one would want to go with a 30 to 45 minutes subway ride for 2 RMB. Best transportation deal in any major city in the world!

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the zoo on the north for a good view.

A great hotel, with excellent facilities including bars and retaurants. The breakfast and buffet meal at dinner meant you had pleanty to choose from, the steaks/chops/seafood was all freshly made and you could ask the chef what to grill for you. There is a bank on site, which offered good service, and a few shops also on the first floor. As a single traveller, but part of a group of 30 I had a comfortable double room. A boxed breafast was given as our flight to Xian meant we left at 6.00am, again perfectly adequate for everyone's need. Water is provided daily and if you need more, or other things there is a Carrefour across the road, but cross over the bridge due to the traffic. Service with a smile at all times, and other travellers used the indoor pool on all 3 days we were there.

when you walk into the hotel, you are impressed with the decor and ambience of the lobby. In fact it is beautiful up to the 4th floor (this is where the shops stop). But the room floors are not as impressive. We were put on a smoking floor, when we requested implicitly no smoking. When we called the front desk and informed them of this, they were not entirely friendly and said they could not move us because they were full. Otherwise the hotel was okay, not great. The room itself wasn't really bad, but the smell of smoke, and when the other guests did smoke, you got that smell all over you.
