I flew people in from around Asia and held a meeting in one of their meeting rooms - the service was wonderful, my attendees loved their stay and the lunch buffet was stunning (if you enjoy seafood, you'll be in heaven!). One of the other stand outs for this location is the huge gorgeous Chinese garden adjacent to the lobby and the main restaurant, complete with huge koi pond and outdoor bar. You can complete a lovely walk around it following the mostly covered path (a good option to get outside since the location outside the hotel isn't great for walking.

The guest rooms are very good (not amazing, getting a little warn), there is a hot water pot, but no coffee or creamer ever put in my room (I did grab some off the maid's cart, so I know it's available!); good hair dryer- but it's built into the desk with an awkward fold up mirror; the beds are really comfortable - the curtains are fairly black out; nice robe, slippers, towels and toiletries.

The location isn't really good for touring the key Beijing sites (although taxis are cheap, metered and plentiful) but for business meetings it's a great option due to the nice meeting rooms, excellent service (they hooked up my Mac to the projector and made sure everything worked for me, always had someone to help, the AC control was in the room and worked, etc). They have a gorgeous Nespresso coffee bar in the hall for coffee breaks (staffed) and nice snack options.

The breakfast buffet is expensive (my room rate included it) but includes every east/west option you can imagine - including omelets to order, fresh juicing station, etc. The lunch buffet is beyond words - Peking duck, EVERY kind of fresh seafood, gelato station, chocolate fondue...great for a special lunch to impress.

I'd definitely book another meeting/event at the Shangri-la when in Beijing.
breakfast buffet includes American and Asian breakfast options, including fresh fruit and juices,

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking their garden.

The Shangri-La brand is synonymous with great experiences, and the Shangri La Beijing is no exception. Great service, comfort, opulence, food and overall appearance. The only challenge is more related to Beijing location. You will need to get a taxi to go anywhere, and you better have a car booked to pick you up, because you won't get a cab to stop for you!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good!

What a beautiful hotel, from the lobby, the outside gardens, the buffet and the rooms. Attentive staff, absolutely stunning until you looked at the carpets in the room, halls and the elevators. China never ceased to amaze with everything glittery until a carpet was involved. This is definitely a gorgeous hotel, but filthy carpets! A definite problem! No wonder they leave you slippers on a towel by your bed every evening. Wouldn't it be easier to clean the carpets?

Room Tip: Make sure you bring flip flops or some easy slip on shoes or slippers.

Dear Valued Guest:
Thank you for taking the time to share your stay experience. We appreciate your positive comments about our beautiful garden, buffet and our attentive staff. We also note your disappointment with the condition of the carpet in your room. This matter has been addressed with our Housekeeping Department to ensure the carpet is properly shampooed and cleaned.
For your information, the placement of the slippers on a white sheet is part of our room turndown service. The slippers are to ensure continued comfort and safety of the guest when walking on the marble bathroom floor. We are also currently in the planning stages of a total room renovation and are very excited about this. We look forward to welcoming you back later in the year and have you try out new sample room when it is done. I hope to have your opinion on this new room design and offerings. In the meantime , keep well and thank you for your patronage and helping us be a better hotel.

Thank you and best regards

This is by far the best overall experience that I have ever had in quite a long time staying in a hotel, all the staff is really polite and courteous, they take good care of you without annoying you and they put attention to all the small details. Shangri La is not a cheap hotel but is worth every RMB that you are paying, the breakfast buffet is excellent and the location is in pristine condition. We stayed in the new wing and the rooms are roomier and brand new. Definitely the best option if you are going to Beijing.

Room Tip: Try to oay the extra fee for the rooms in the new wing

A warm friendly welcome and excellent facilities. If you want somewhere central it's not an ideal location but if like us you are on a guided tour it's perfect to relax after sight seeing. If your budget allows stay in the valley wing. You are offered snacks all day long, champagne and wine 11am till 11pm and cocktails and dim sum from 6pm until 8pm and rooms are larger with a lounge area. You also have a dedicated check in and check out.

My "Shangri-La" experience started right from the time I stepped out of the flight where a butler guided me through the airport exit to my car, which had a free wi-fi inside! As I entered the hotel, I was guided straight to my room- with no check-in formalities and waiting !! All verification and checkin details was done in my room. The view from the 22nd floor was amazing!! everything was spotless in this hotel, and although sometimes there was a bit of communication barrier, each and every staff had a genuine smile, which ironed out all issues.
The most interesting part was that each time I took a cab to office, I was handed over a leaflet with the cab number and hotel address along with translations of normal chinese sentences!!! Numerous choices for breakfast, and the restaurant was overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden!!!
Experience of a lifetime!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the newly renovated part of the building.
