“Oasis in busy Beijing”
Reviewed August 23, 2010

From the moment you enter the St Regis, you feel like in a calm oasis in bustling Beijing. The hotel is modern, rooms are spacious and service is truly five star. Whenever you need something, staff would be ready to help you. This is for example especially helpful when support is needed to instruct taxi drivers where to go or for restaurant reservations.

There are a couple of restaurants in the hotel, and food is good though pricy.

The hotel is centrally located, a good 20 minute walk to the Forbidden City if you'd like to save the cheap cab ride.

I can certainly recommend the place for both business people and leisure travellers.

If I really had to find something, it is the fact that wireless connection is not included in the room price (which unfortunately still holds true for other hotels of this class as well).

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The butler service was outstanding as were the amenities and furnishings in the room.

The business center was in the other tower, but it was a nice short walk indoors. There was a minimal fee for internet access which is usual for a 5 star property, but only about 5US$ for 15 minutes, so not too bad.

Location was great. A short cab ride to Forbidden CIty, Tiananmen Sq., and The "Egg" concert hall, a must see.

Dear Distinguished Guest,

Thank you for staying at The St. Regis Beijing and posting your review on Tripadvisor.com. We really appreciate your recommendation and are more than pleased to see you've spent a great time with us!

We all feel inspiring when you pointed out that you felt comfortable about our advantageous location, uncompromising and bespoke service, and great entertainment facilities. What St. Regis Beijing is trying to deliver to its guests is the best address with the true feeling of "home away from home".

However, more of our hotel still awaits your exploration, such as our prestigious natural spa coming up from 1500m underground, which will surely eliminate your strain and refresh both your body and mind after a whole day tour or work.

Dear guest, thanks again for your stay with us and look forward to seeing you soon!

A family of four traveling in Asia for the summer holiday. Our first surprise was that the Hotel did not have the type of room we had requested. Next surprise was the service in the acclaimed italian restaurant. We had the plates thrown onto the table by a waitress so rude she had nothing to do in a St. Regis restaurant. further during the meal we experienced terrible service and left more than surprised. Next day the concierge sent us to a restaurant writing the right address on a piece of paper but giving us the wrong area on the map. We spent lots of time trying to locate the restaurant with no luck finally we took a taxi to experience that we where in the wrong area of the city. finally the last day confusion about another booking but by this time they at least tried to undo the trouble. When you book yourself in to a St. Regis Hotel you expect St. Regis standard. This is far from our experience staying in the St. Regis Beijing. Somebody should wake up in the management

Check in was swift and our luggage was taken up to our 17th floor room promptly. Very large room with a sofa a business desk area and an amazing marble bathroom. The programmable toilet is novel... it warms, washes, cleans, dries and deoderizes!! The lounge area is stunning. We had English afternoon tea on arrival.. The breakfast area is very plush with a very wide selection of European and Chinese selctions... Try the Chinese Pancake!! The pool and gym area are very good. We also had a personal butler who was very attentive. Happy hour consists of complimentary drinks and food....a nice touch. Only downside is the location.. it does seem abit far out though its not really as its only 3 metro stops to the Forbidden City. Also the staff in the lounge area could do with being more customer service orienated .. sometimes we got the feeling that they didnt want to be there... they need to smile. Overall a great hotel.. You must visit Behai park...
