“Great Hotel”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

One of those great old hotels with excellent amenities and faultless service. I was particularly impressed with the personal butler service. The 24 hour gym was one of the best ive come across. I highly recommend this hotel.

We don't go often to hotel brunches, but today we did. This was the second the time we went to the St. Regis and we were again overwhelmed by the quality of the dishes, the service and the overall ambiance. I can really recommend this hotel for the brunch, because so far it is the best we know in town.

Let's start w/ the positives. Great hotel and fine service. Butler service is an indulgence we all should enjoy at least once in our lives. Stayed here because since it was our first time in China, felt it was worth the money to know that at the end of the day we would be returning to a peaceful space and in most every respect that was the case. With the major exception of trying to get taxis for restaurants in the evening. Doormen claimed it was a "rush hour" problem and that they were difficult to obtain. One example, we waited over 25 minutes one evening and when I inquired about the cost of their own car service as an alternative I was quoted 700 RMB for what amounted to a 30 RMB cab ride. That is insulting. They need to understand that all their clientele are not CEOs of major companies but simply people who appreciate nice things and are willing to pay for them but don't need to be ripped off in the process.

Dear Woccer,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with The St. Regis Beijing. We also appreciate your feedback about the taxi situtaion. We would like to assure you that similar encounters with trying to get a taxi is quite a common occurence in Beijing especially during peak hours. As for the price of the car service, our associate may not have informed you that the services are outsourced (as with most hotels in Beijing) and the prices are provided by the vendor.

I would like to suggest, for future reference that you can inform our concierge to hail a taxi to standby at the appointed time to avoid having to wait for too long during peak hours.

We look foward to welcome you again to The St. Regis Beijing in the not too distant future.

Can't say enough about this hotel. The rooms are spacious (and we were upgraded to a suite which was even nicer). You can get used to the butler service to unpack and bring morning coffee. The rest of the staff was helpful especially the concierge desk. Definitely recommend using the hotel car to get around to appointments. The pool is huge, though a little cold and the gym is also well equiped and spacious. The restaurants are also good including Japanese in Beijing. It is a perfect place to get over jetlag from a long flight.

Dear jantrachtman,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at The St. Regis Beijing. Our Butler service is often the major highlight of our guests' experience. It certainly is nice to be pampered but in a very discreet manner. We ahve taken note of your comments on the temperature in the pool and will have it looked into. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and we hope to welcome you again soon!

We stayed at the St Regis Beijing in December 2011, for one week-end night, and this is probably the place you want to be if you are looking for the best service and utmost luxurious place to stay! We are actually living in Beijing, and know the city quite well. Location of the hotel is great for both business and leisure purposes. Many 'informal' business meetings are conducted in the hotel lobby lounge or 'Garden Lounge", with great service. Rooms are large, very well equipped (and renovated), feature all amenities you can think of, and if something is missing, it is only a call away. In the evening, complementary snacks and drinks are served at the Press Club bar in a warm and quiet atmosphere. Superb and well attended fitness center and swimming pool. An amazing experience overall, that we have not found in that many places around the world!

Room Tip: Rooms have either an outside view of the hotel or an inside view which we had and was really quiet!

If you can afford to, stay in the apartments at the St. Regis Beijing. The unit I stayed with my daughter when visiting my son was just wonderful and spacious for Beijing. It has a kitchenette with a washer and dryer. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a spacious living room and foyer. It also comes with our own butler. Definitely worth it if you're staying for a long period of time.

Okay..beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean, attentive if distant service but noting that sets it apart from every other 5 star western hotel in Beijing. The location is a bit isolated and not much to do anywhere near it and they really need to deal with the HVAC system. The meeting rooms were so hot people literally were feeling faint and had top leave the meetings. When complaints were made there were lots of smiles but no heat relief. Again, lovely suites and rooms but no vibe or special quality to this hotel. I prefer the Grand hyatt in Beijing..same 5 star level but a real buzzabout it with excellent dining and shopping virtually next door and only clocks away from the forbidden city...Its not bad..its just not special

Room Tip: all good all the same
