Swissotel Beijing always offer the best service and attention to their guest needs. My latest visit in April 2014 has been a very comfortable experience. A good relaxing home away from home. Special tribute to the excutive lounge team.

The hotel offers very good services to its guests starting from the entrance all the way to the house keeping. The rooms are clean and the staffs are very responsive and courteous. It is centrally located in Beijing and the subway station is right across from the hotel entrance.

Swissotel Beijing is in a great area, safe, close to Yashow market, lots of bars and restaurants.
The staff were friendly and spoke English. Check in/out was reasonable.
Subway station was right in front of it.
The best part of this hotel would have to be the breakfast buffet, unbelievable. They have anything and everything you could ask for and its included in your room rate.
The room itself was a decent size, bed was comfortable, tv had cnn and bbc, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Also I booked a tour with their tour booth in the lobby, 120$ for a full day tour saw the great wall, jade factory, tea ceremony, Olympic arena and lunch in a traditional Chinese restaurant.
Only con I can think of was it took a while to get a taxi here, not really the hotels fault but there was always a line up of people waiting for a cab.

Great hotel. Walking distance to a subway station. Friendly and helpful staff.
A little old and it can use an overall re-decoration.

My hotel's stay was good. But only one service was some miss. Wife in the room was not stabilized. Overall hotel's service was good. I satisfied. And the location of hotel was good. Using subway was excellent.

beds were hard as a rock. air conditioning didn't work and I woke in a sweat several times a night. certainly wasn't the restful night I was hoping for. on the plus side, breakfast in the cafe is good (a buffet but with lots of selections). desk staff less than helpful. "where's the nearest cigar shop?" "I don't know. we don't have one." of course, I checked out and checked into a marriott where the concierge didn't know either but looked it up on line and gave me directions. not a place I'd recommend.

I stayed at the Swissotel Beijing Hong Kong Macau Center in mid-April 2014. The location couldn't be beat! It is on the same corner (of a major intersection) as the Dongsi Shitiao subway station. This was very convenient for exploring this vast city - as I primarily got around town either on foot or via subway.

It is also right across the street from a Starbucks and a 7-11 - for those who desire such mod cons (hey, it's cheaper and better to get a cup of Starbucks coffee than the hotel). It is also a block and a half or so from the famous Da Dong Peking Duck restaurant (which everyone needs to visit if they're in Beijing). I was also able to walk to the Great Leap microbrew pub in about 12 mins! A big "plus" for me.

The hotel, itself, is not exactly modern by Beijing standards (it seems like things built even before the Olympics are not modern). Yet it is still rather a nice place. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed. I never ate once in the hotel, so I can not comment on the food. I did have a beer one night in the lounge near the check-in counter and the beer was priced more than I'd pay at an equivalent hotel in the U.S.! I'm glad I only did that once.

My room was pretty good. They do have WiFi (it was "free" with my Orbitz online purchase) though the Great Firewall was certainly in force. This isn't the hotel's fault, of course...rather the Chinese gov't. policy. The hotel provided two bottles of water each day - which is handy for brushing teeth and drinking since Beijing tap water is undrinkable. The bed was hard - but I didn't mind. The room was also quiet. I was on the 4th floor in an "Apartment" room and never heard the neighbors. There was a slight din of construction outside during business hours, but I was typically up and out exploring by then. I could sleep well during the night. The room was a Smoking room (I'm not even sure if they have non-smoking rooms there) and I am a non-smoker, though the smell wasn't too obvious. Maybe my sense of smell was already blighted from the ever present and extraordinary Beijing pollution.

Bottom line: Would I recommend this place for a person who wants to be near the center of the city and close to subways/restaurants/bars/coffee? Yes. Would I stay there again on a future trip to Beijing? Yes.
