“Chinese standard Hotel but good location”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

We booked 4 nights in Family room = 1 bathroom + 2 rooms (1 double bed + 2 single beds). Rooms are quite big. Bathroom is quite small.

This hotel is typical Chinese hotel : Beds are hard. Cleanness is just so so (for instance in minibar we found food of previous customer, ...) and equipements are not always working (only warm A/C in one room - Other one ok).

Anyway, price is quite cheap so I think it is ok finally regarding location (close to subway line 5 and Wangfujing street).

We stayed at this hotel for two nights before starting a tour of China. Its popular with tour groups, and thats probably due to its location. Easy access to metro and bus connections.

The hotel could do with a good renovation. Rooms are tired and grubby, to a degree, and the place lacks any atmosphere. The lack of adequate seating areas in the lobby/foyer really bothered me, especially when you were with a group. Wifi was sometimes hit and miss too.

It definitely served its purpose and was fine for what we needed.

**Note: As seems to be the norm throughout China, beds are very hard!!!**

The rooms are nothing like the pictures though.

Room Tip: Ask to view the rooms first at check-in

Tianrui hotel is good value for money - rooms are spacious and bathrooms are roomy. The location is good too, the lane where the hotel is located is right at the corner of Dengshikou metro station but you have to know which exit as there are several exits. The hotel is just 10 min away from Wangfujing and the avenue perpendicular to it, Donghuamen with its night exotic food stalls which leads all the way to the Forbidden Close by Street. Dong Si road is actually more interesting than Wamfujing as there are more local stores with local wares. Only minor point is that the room price doesn't include the toiletries in the bathroom.

What I liked :
-great location. in a small street (called Hutong), it's very quiet and I did not get to much noise to sleep. It's also 2 minutes away from a subway station. it's easy to get around from there. it's also jsut 2 stop away from the train station on the subway.
-the facilites . Wifi in the lobby. Bar,
restarant and breakfast avalaible.
- there is no laundery system provided but there is a small launderette just next door. so it helps the local communities .
-around the corner from a big street with lots of shops to buy food . and if you are into shopping, lots of clothes shops too.
-it's also a walking distance from The forbidden city, but it did take us more than 20 min to get there.
-there is a small safe in every bed room.

what I did not like :
-the bed !!! very hard ! my friend even look under the sheet convinced that they had no mattresses ... but yes, they do have mattresses. they are just hard.
-the staff barely spoke english. they are very polite but it makes it very hard to communicate. don't expect them to give you direction . And I asked for a map of the city , and they charged me for it.

The hotel is located in a preserved Huton district within walking distance to shops, subway, and even to Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City. The streets are therefore characteristically narrow, but that doesn't seem to prevent access by car.

There are some small shops next door, good for buying drinks and snacks. The Dengshikou subway station is at the end of the block. The major shopping district of Wangfujing is a couple of blocks away, featuring expensive stores as well as a lively night market. You might also be lucky to find the "weird food street market" that sells everything from sea horse to fried crickets, hot and ready to eat.

The hotel is in reasonable condition, but not top-class. One day my morning shower had no hot water (other days it did). The roof in the bathroom is showing signs of damp. The air conditioning in the room did a reasonably good job of cooling us down after a hot day. The rooms are large.

The breakfast buffet was included in my stay but it is mostly tailored to local tastes. There is just eggs and toast available for Western tastes. The juice container is labelled "Orang Juice" but actually contains Apple Juice. One day it was served hot, another day it was served cold.

There is wired Internet in the rooms, but I instead used the wi-fi that is available in the lobby but also reaches up to the lounge area on the 2nd floor (just a couple of chairs near the lift).

Good for location, but don't expect 5-star accommodation.

The hotel is tucked away in a tiny lane, but reasonably easy to find. It is only metres away from the metro, which was quite handy. The room was a little dark, but you can get a decent nights sleep. The room size was very good, with two double beds, and bathroom was on decent size. The cleansiness was average, not superb, but not disgusting either. The hotel is also close to some shops for eating, knick knacks etc. You can certainly walk to ti'ananmen square, forbidden city and old Beijing.

Be careful not to book a taxi in peak hour. I asked the guy how long I should give it, and he said 15 minutes. So I played it safe and gave him 20 minutes. There was not a single taxi in sight for 30 min, in which he suggested I take the metro to get close to Beijing West Railway Station (not connected by metro), it was a further 10 minute drive. Annoyed and rushing, I managed to make by train with minutes.

The english is ok at this hotel, much better than others. The wifi in the lobby was useful, but wished there was in-room internet as well.
