Well located and did the trick for 3 nights in Beijing.
Friendly staff. Good level of english spoken and very helpful.
Warm hotel when it was zero outside!
Taxi's easy enough tot get and a short walk to underground system, food market and the local pedestrian only street.

We arrived at the hotel at 2.00am after long flights and were badly in need of sleep - manager directed us to our room which unfortunately meant dragging suitcases up 10 steps - when we got to our room there were twin beds instead of queen - we were too tired to change and flopped into bed. The room was small but clean and sufficient for the few nights we were staying. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices - we also dined at the hotel one night (buffet) we were very disappointed with the food for the buffet. We found the location to be excellent - so close to Wangfujing and within walking distance of The Forbidden City etc - we used the local bus and found it extremely cheap and easy to use as long as you knew which number bus you wanted. Tour desk was helpful as were the staff on reception. The bar/lounge in the lobby was excellent and a good place to sit and people watch (there was always plenty going on in the street). Internet in the lobby was slow but we managed to send a few emails. All in all, good value for money with the location being a real plus.

From previous reviews was expecting a plain but clean hotel. But it was much better than that. We thought the lobby was gorgeous, lots of pillars and gold, and very open, with the bar off the lobby set against big windows, so a very pleasant place for afternoon tea - recommend the rose tea, with tiny roses opening up in the glass pot - and watching Beijingers go about their business. Inside the hotel is mostly Westeners though. We had a great deal for rooms on the Executive Level: $145 NZ dollars, booked about 3 months in advance and I thoroughly recommend this as it includes complimentary drinks and bar snacks from 6 - 8pm each night and is a great way to meet other visitors. For a couple of nights we didn't bother going out to dinner as, having had a big lunch out, the bar snacks were all we needed. Breakfast at your choice of the Executive Lounge or down in the large cafe restaurant. Menus same in both, but view from Executive Lounge on 19th floor is the best. As this is part of French chain, there is a slight French style to the food, which we appreciated, especially the canapes and profiteroles in the Exec Lounge at happy hour. Rooms were large, clean, but overheated, and no way to get cool air - that may be government ruling though. Best bit is the ability to request bed and pillows to suit your preference. First night I found the bed too hard. Requested a softer bed and ended up with a lollopy, soft waterbed which I loved but did cause some hilarity in the middle of night when one of us got up and the other had a consequent trampoline effect. But I am not complaining, it was soft, the room was quiet and we got a really good night's sleep overall. One note about location - it is an easy walk to Wafujing pedestrian shopping street, (if you want a street full of European labels) and a 10 minute walk on the same street to Da Dong duck restaurant. But for 60+ visitors, it is about a 30 min walk to Tianamen Sq, not the 15 minute walk other (younger, fitter?) posters say.

Room tip: Executive Level includes complimenary drinks and bar snacks 6-8pm, great way to meet other visitors.
