“Great brunch place in Beijing!”
Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

My family and I went here because we read about it in one of the Beijing expat magazines. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very modern and the food was great. You forget you live in a smoggy city when you walk in!

“Nice decor and broad menu, service and food quality can be improved”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

The Rug is a nice place where to have brunch: the decor is very original and the atmosphere is very homey. Unfortunately we had to wait for more than 40 minutes, even if some tables were empty (the waitress kept saying they were too big for us but nobody used them and we eventually were allowed to sit there). The service had a few other problems but overall it was fine. The menu is extremely rich of both salty and sweet dishes. Some of the stuff we ordered (ex. pancakes) was very good while some dishes (ex. omelettes, eggs benedict) not that great.

“Comfy brunch”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

I'm rating this based on BEIJING brunches, not comparing to la or ny because the amount of decent brunch places in beijing is sorely lacking. I like this place because it has a large selection of really good brunch options. I've lived in Beijing for 2.5 years and I come here quite often and have enjoyed most items. This place isn't dirt cheap and has prices comparable to the states as an fyi but asia is getting more expensive if you want to enjoy western anything.

-Hashbrowns (50-70rmb): all options are tasty! back in the day they had a nacho hashbrown, which probably isn't healthy or breakfast, but come on.....nacho anything is pretty good.
-Egg benedicts (80-100rmb): not the best i've had as the english muffin sometimes is kind of hard but the eggs are poached well and nice sauce to go with it.
-french toast (50rmb): the peach stuffed with ice cream one was delicious but i think they took it off the menu! currently they have an almond cibatta one that was a bit too dry for my liking. just drench it in syrup?
-pancakes/hotcakes (50-70rmb): prefer the hotcakes MUCH more as they are fluffier. i'd drench maple syrup allll over.
-sausage patties (108rmb): i try not to eat too much meat, but this is really good! the patties are really flavorful and have a hint of sweetness that hits at the end. solid choice but price is steeper
-yogurt items (20-35rmb): homemade! good stuff
-frittata (78rmb): not the best frittata i've had as i think it is too thin and is more like scrambled eggs but it's a healthy option.
