Loads of reasons to go to Tims Tex Mex on Dongdaqiao Lu; the girls are always very friendly, the managers, Ellen and Meggie very attentive; great night life, but I enjoy lunchtime the best. You an get out of the busy roadway, and just relax in the darkness of Tims. The southern fried steak is very good with real mash, but I like a Chinese dish the most- Kung Pao chicken; you get this in all Chinese restaurants, but ironically Tims hits the spot.
When in Beijing I regularly eat at Tims. The menu is very good with plenty of meat dishes etc. Food is better and cheaper than hotel fare and the atmosphere is upbeat. Staff really efficient too.
I had high hopes for Tim's Texas BBQ, after hearing from another US expat that it was great. We were less than thrilled, the food was just bad. The guacamole was bland and about an 1/8C for an appetizer, the breakfast meat tasted like burned oil and they didn't even have pulled pork at a bbq place??? We won't be back, and would choose Home Plate over this place any day, even though I don't like their bbq sauce, I'll just take my own.
We went there after getting our US visas.
The burgers are quite good, as they have green chili in them, which makes great flavor. The pork and beef ribs are quite nice, but before I can taste them, them were cooled down pretty rapidly by the very cold indoor temperature... It was quite freezing inside at 11 a.m.
Overall, good food, just heat the restaurant up a little, and be a little bit more welcoming.
The decor is quite American though.
