We booked 3 separate tours when we were in Beijing. We travelled in a family of 3.
1) Mutianyu Great Wall + Ming Tomb bus tour
For this tour, we were the only customer so we had a tour guide (Candy) and a driver and a van all to ourself. We paid for a bus tour but got something like a private tour. Candy was great. She contacted us the night before the tour to inform us about the arrangement the following morning. She was very punctual and explained to us history of the Ming tomb and also of the Great Wall. Lunch provided was simple but very tasty - we were surprised as we are fussy diners. Hats off to the tour company for running the tour even though we were the only customer.
2) Beijing Classic Bus tour
We had Candy as our guide as well. This time we had another person joined the tour. So it was like 4 in a van. Candy took us to all the "must sees" in the city as per itinerary and explained the history and significance of each sight. On both days, Candy also helped us to take many family photos.
As part of the the tour package, we were brought to a medicine shop and given a free foot massage (30 minutes). During this time, Chinese "doctors/professors" came and did a pulse reading and gave us a diagnosis of what's wrong and try to sell you exorbitantly priced "medicine". It felt like a scam as the "doctors / professors" seem to focus only on me (they probably sense I am the decision maker) and the other customer. My son and wife was ignored. So the 30 minutes is just about sufficient time for them to sell you something - this is the part of the tour that I didn't feel comfortable and the foot massage was nothing to shout about (had much better ones elsewhere).
3) Beijing Nanshan Ski Resort Day tour
We had a new guide, Kevin, for this tour. Everything is as per itinerary. Lunch was simple but good - apparently cuisine is that of Noth Eastern China. As usual, the guide informed us about the arrangements the night before the tour. And they were punctual with time and Kevin took care of all ticketing and the "processes - getting ski suits, boots, locker keys, skis, etc".
Overall, we are happy with this tour company and will use them again when we go to China. Booking was easy - done online and via emails. Queennie (sales manager) provides fast response to enquiries - usually within a few hours.
We will not hessitate to recommend them to our friends.
