Stayed here for a few nights for a company meeting, as my office is pretty much right next door. This is a spectacular hotel from the minute you walk in. First class service ensured check-in was a breeze, as the staff spoke great English as well. The room was impressive, I only stayed in the lowest tier (Deluxe) room but it was very spacious and luxurious design especially for the bathroom. Other Sheraton staples like built-in plug converters, clocks with iPhone docks, etc. were all included. Beijing is not a cheap place but you really get what you pay for with a room like this.

The breakfast was good as well with a variety of local Chinese delicacies to try, along with the usual Western fare. Location-wise, it was convenient for me but it may not suit everyone. It isn't close to a subway station so you'll have to use taxis which can be difficult since they generally don't speak English and will try to overcharge you on the basis of heavy traffic even when it isn't really that bad. If you are ok with the taxis, the hotel is not too far from some of the good eating places and tourist spots like the Forbidden City which was only 20 mins or so away (Taxis will try to convince you that its a 2-hour drive though).

All-in-all, no major complaints with this excellent hotel and would certainly be happy to stay here again.

I stayed here for 2 nights for a business meeting, and found this to be a very good property and location. The rooms were big and well equipped. The staff was very helpful, especially in making the drivers understand the locations we wanted to visit since language is a huge problem and very few people speak English. The property is located in a good business area as well as close to tourist areas, esp. to San Litun Village market (the best in Beijing).

This may be a great bet if you are on vacation and part of a tour..... but if you are on business the location could be better. This hotel is every inch a Sheraton having opened in late 2011. Its as good as any other Sheraton anywhere - the rooms are great and the staff friendly. The bar is sort of part of the lobby which makes for a soul-less atmosphere but the restaurants are excellent particularly the buffet breakfast at feast.

The main drawback with this hotel and the reason I probably will not stay there again is the location out on the NE part of the third ring. Its quite a trek to the nearest subway stations (I read 8 minutes somewhere - maybe if you are Usain Bolt it is but otherwise allow 20 or 30. The hotel entrance is not on a main street so getting a taxi can be a problem - we waited 25 minutes on a Friday evening (and that was with the bellman out on the main street trying to get a cab on our behalf).....eventually we gave up and stayed in the hotel.

If you are new to Beijing and dont speak Chinese you will find that picking up a taxi on the street in Beijing and explaining where you want to go can be a real problem so if you are out and want to get back, head for a hotel and get the bellman to explain where you want to go.

The hotel itself is difficult to fault but next time I go back for business i will stay closer to the Central Business District.

This hotel compares very favorably with some of the best hotels we have stayed in around the world, such as the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh and the Hyatt at the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Rooms are very pleasantly arranged ... upbeat and comfortable, with efficient use of space so you never feel cramped. There are many nice surprises such as the way the lighting is arranged and the number and placement of the modern electrical outlets which do not need special adapters. Tired and grumpy on arrival, we were immediately "relaxed and at-home" in the room. Winding down, sleeping, and waking up refreshed were exactly what we needed ... and got.

Everything is compatible with both oriental and western tastes, including the food. But I must mention the staff. There are many "good" hotels in the world, but what makes a hotel outstanding for us is the "impression of caring" and professional service we get from the staff. We "expect" top quality service, both efficient and effective, from a good hotel. What makes the difference between them is whether we get the impression that the staff are genuinely glad to see us, that they like working there, and when they are openly friendly as well as courteous. This Sheraton excelled on all counts.

Would like to share just one example of the "little things" that make a difference. My wife and I had put on the robes and slippers furnished by the hotel after bathing, but somehow we had pulled the sliding door off its track and when I tried to fix it, it got jammed (covering some drawers we wanted to use). I called the desk to report it thinking maybe someone could do something about it in the next day or so. This must have been after 10pm. First of all, I did not get shuffled to different people. The desk clerk took the information and asked if I would like someone to come fix it. Wow! Something like 5 minutes later a service manager knocked on the door to inform me that someone was on their way up. 5 minutes after that, the service person was there. He was very knowledgeable and professional and fixed the problem within about 10 minutes. No extra tipping was expected and he seemed to really "care" if the problem had been completely fixed to our satisfaction. Looked like he actually took some "pride" in doing the job right. I tested it while he waited, and it worked perfectly from then on. When I compare that with the "indifference" I have often experienced wrt service problems at some of the pretty good hotels in New York and Washington D.C., it makes me want to pick this hotel up (staff and all) and move it to those cities.

All I can say is "kudos" to the management and staff and service personnel of this hotel. Our stay there was a thorougly positive experience, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to our family and friends.

Room Tip: A view of the plaza is interesting since many interesting activities take place there.

My first trip to Beijing on biz, and I spent 5 days at this hotel.

Pros:
- great location, right next to the GTC towers where many MNCs are. Starbucks and Subway within 2 mins walking distance.
- friendly staff... they all understand English and were friendly. Check-in was very accommodating and even upgraded me to an Exec Room since I was a SPG member.
- AMAZING Italian restaurant... simply fantastic food, although a little pricey. Do try this place (restaurant is called Bene - it apparently won quite a few food awards). Try the mushroom soup and the delish wood-fired pizzas.
- spacious rooms with a view of the city. I was on 16th floor and had big beds, bathrooms and a nice sweeping view below.
- fast wifi in room.. I clocked in 3Mbps downloads which is decent for a hotel.
- breakfast was good with a nice spread. Chefs understand "over easy" eggs.

Cons:
- hsekeeping not very good: they didn't replenish laundry bags and didn't clean up my bathroom properly. still some wet towels remained draped over the sink (I expected these to be changed).
- my biggest peeve is the water pressure: it's good but not great. expected 30% better water pressure... benchmarked against the power showers of the Westins.
- not many taxis seem to be available outside..didn't see any queued up waiting. To be safe, I booked a taxi in advance w/the concierge.

Overall, minor cons. I'd stay at this hotel again. Stay here if you're on biz. They'll take care of you.

Room Tip: ask for high floors, good view. avoid room "1701" as other biz travellers have told me of...

We were on a tour of China with a group. We stayed at several different hotels. This was by far the very best! Very nice rooms and super breakfast buffet with both Chinese and Western food. Just about anything you could want was on the buffet from delicious smoked salmon & sushi to omelets made to order, wonderful selection of fruit, pastries of all sorts, etc, etc. I could go on all day . Good location too. Stay here if you visit Beijing!

Room Tip: Ask to be sure you don't get on a smoking floor unless you are a smoker!
