“A must once in your lifetime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

You cannot say you have truly seen China without taking a trip to the Great Wall. Yes you must be in shape to do it, but it will worth your time. You will be amazed by the grandeur of this magnificent masterpiece. I was very tired after going through this but it’s one of a kind experience. The scenery is absolutely fantastic and you will see why they call it on of the world’s wonders. Make sure that you have some water with you, a good pair of walking shoes and get ready to experience a day of outstanding history. Definitely an experience I’ll never forget.

“amazing experience, great view but very steep”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

this is a must for any visit to china.Hard route which is very steep is worth the effort but is seriously steep so make sure you are up to it. Our family separated to make sure we could have the best experience we could 'manage'. lots of cheap but reasonable quality souvenirs which are worth buying. the gide books can be purchased cheaper elsewhere. make sure to remember your camera

This is a special site where you can take wheelchair all the way. Best for elderly. Young people can climb up.

“Not as free from tourists as claimed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

We were told that by going out to this part of the wall we would find there were less tourists, but on the day we went - a Sunday - it was quite crowed in places. Most people do seem to stop after the first tower so if you keep on walking you will find it empties out and becoming more pleasant. We chose not to walk up the hill to the wall and took the cable car. For us it was a good choice as we had more energy to walk futher. We found the wall a challenge in parts the 'pavement' and steps are quite damaged and steep, but worth every step. The views are simply stunning and the scale of the wall as it disappears over the horizon awe-inspiring.

We were accompanied by the inevitable 'local villagers' seeming at first to be a fellow visitor anxious to assist, who turned out to be trying to sell guide books, hats, postcards...Tell them you are NOT buying and will not buy when you return from your walk and they will give up by the second tower! You will be picked up on your way back by another hopeful and they can get really aggresive. Be clear and firm with them.

This was on our to-do list and did not fail to impress. We enjoyed every moment and wished we had walked further.

On a sunny day don't forget the sun cream, a hat and water!!! Remember you have to go back to the car park for toilets! There were Western style toilets as well as Chinese.
Do wear good walking shoes, you really don't want to twist your ankle or slip over up here!

“What a thrill ! A must for any "Traveller".”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

This has ticked a huge bucket list place for me. You must be in fit condtion to really enjoy the hike and steps and inclines. Most Europeans/Americans only tackled the first tower,{overweight and unfit }the best parts are 3 /4 towers away from the crowds.
