“Great Dumplings and other Chinese foods”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

We arrived here around 2PM and luckily there was no queue. The place is small but full.
We ordered several dishes and all of it were wonderful. Most customers during our visits are tourist. Great food. Fried Dumplings and Boiled Dumplings were both excellent.
We were initially lost looking for 74 Gulou East Street. But finally found it after looking for Baochao Houtong using google map.

“Wonderful final meal in Beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Our family spent our final day climbing the Great Wall and then enjoying dumplings at Mr. Shi's Dumplings. Everything was so fresh! We all enjoyed watching our dishes being made by hand and then eating them steaming hot. YUM!

“Funky and fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

You can draw on the walls, as many have. English menu available, with pictures. Mr. Shi speaks English, and the place is always full of customers of many nationalities enjoying great food and ice cold beer. Ask for the Yanjing fresh beer, almost champagne. Dumplings, fried and steamed, of all kinds, all excellent. Mr. Shi's chef salad, shredded cabbage and other things with spicy peanuts, is outstanding also. Tends to be crowded because of all this, but worth a wait, if necessary. We ate here a lot during our time in Beijing, and always enjoyed it.

“Pretty good local food, at a fair price.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

English menu. Good for tourists. Casual, fun atmosphere. Owner and staff very friendly.
Prices are fair. Dumplings are very tasty, and authentic. You can see the staff making them from scratch out in the dining area.

Our Hot/Sour soup had a burnt taste from being heated up quickly, and had blackend pieces in it.

The vegetable dishes, and noodles were nice. The deep fried taro balls are good as well.
