The location is hard to find. You must have the name and address in Chinese
果果私房烤鸭. Guo Guo Si Fang Kao Ya.
朝阳门外大街甲6号万通中心底商2015号

You come here –first- for the duck, it is perfect. Everyone I introduced to Si Fang Kao Ya was impressed by their Beijing duck, Chinese and Foreigners alike. It is absolutely delicious, and fairly priced. I personally prefer their duck to that of all other top-rated restaurants in Beijing. The ducks here are small, but also about half-the-price of most high-end restaurants, and much more delicious. We normally order one duck per 2 persons. The rest of the menu is not as extensive as the menus you traditionally find in typical Chinese restaurants, but it is extremely adequate and you will find enough variety to complement the duck for a perfect meal. Dish portions are also quite small, but since they are fairly priced, I see this as a positive: smaller portions allow ordering more dishes for variety.

Then, you come for the ambiance. This restaurant has a coffee-house-like setting with rectangular tables and comfortable chairs that are well-cushioned, not the round tables and straight chairs that you find in larger establishments. It’s a perfect place to come with a small group of friends or for a private encounter. This is a very small restaurant. The ambient noise is subdued, yet you can have a private conversation. No need for shouting to be heard, unlike so many other places in Beijing. The staff is very friendly and effective; but I don’t believe much English is spoken.

Then, if you are like me, you will appreciate their selection of fairly priced wine, including some by the glass. Their wines are stored in a temperature-controlled cellar, and served in proper wine glasses. The carte is only one page, nothing extravagant, but again, extremely adequate. It adds to the pleasure of eating here.

If you intend to go, you really should make a reservation, unless you enjoy tempting luck and don’t mind waiting. It seems to fill up every day. If you don’t speak Chinese, ask someone who does to do the reservation for you.

Guo Guo Si Fang Kao Ya has become my favorite restaurant in Beijing. It is always a pleasant experience. Great job!

This is a local favorite. Virtually no foreigners are around. Mostly office workers from the Wan Tong Center and other major office buildings nearby. The restaurant is small, with seating on love seats around large tables suitable for groups of 4-6. The service is fast and efficient. The prices are rock bottom. On the negative side, the waitresses failed to wash their hands before handling the condiments and the carver did not wear plastic gloves, as is required in top-flight duck establishments. There was lots of fat and little meat on the duck, but then again the price is rock bottom (about 300 RMB for two, including appetizer, whole roast duck, side dish and drinks.)

We had been here several times and were never disappointed. Food is really good (string beans and eggplant are out favorites), price is absolutely fair. Environment is nothing special, but doesn't hurt... Beer (huge Tsingtao cans) is cold...

This restaurant has changed names and now has a different name. You will see "Peking Duck private kitchen" on the outside and the menus.
Just go and order the duck for 168 yuan and you will get a full plate of crispy delicious skin with most duck meat, dipping sauces and pancakes. This alone is plenty for 2 hungry people.
