Don't be put off by the communist style drab exterior. Inside, this is a very good, 4 star hotel in excellent location. Big, clean, modern rooms with all the amenities you will ever need. Soft beds, good dual head shower, bathrobes, free bottles of water every day. Nice helpful staff - we arrived at 8am and they let us have the room immediately with no fuss at all. The only thing needing improvement is the breakfast - not enough choice of western food and what is available is often cold and not particularly tasty, not really worth 98RMB they charge. The hotel clearly caters more for the Chinese guests. Also, the Wi-fi is only available in the lobby but that's not such a big problem.
The hotel is very convenient for subway lines 1 and 2 and 5. 2min walk from Dongdan station ( exit C or D ), 10 min walk to Wangfujing Street ( diagonally across from Malls at Oriental Plaza - try the excellent Food Republic ), 20min walk to Tiananmen Square, direct access to the Temple of Heaven and Lama Temple/Confucius Temple on line 5.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Don't bother with superior rooms, the standard ones are very good. Ask for a room on a high floor facing east ( the view is nicer ).

Great hotel with fantastic breakfast with a selection of food for everyone! Very easily accessible to the subway, if you take the C exit (south/east) - it is VERY close to the hotel (the other C exit has SO many stairs!!).

Also within a few subway stops from the Pearl Market, Temple of Heaven, Silk Market, Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing Street, etc. All in all we were very pleased with our choice!

The ONLY negative - we didn't find anywhere within walking distance to buy a light meal / snacks - perhaps just didn't explore far enough?

we have just returned from a 15 day trip to china ,,, in Beijing we stayed at inner mongolia it was an ok clean hotel, nothing to rave about but all the basics were there and up to a 4 star standard. only reception staff spoke good english, about the room; view was good as all basic amenities in room plus 2 complimentary bottled water daily with tea-coffee making facility. hotel is 5 min walk to metro and 10 min walk to Wangfujing market.
All in all a good central hotel while in beijing.

Room Tip: don't forget to take your router to get wifi in rooms as it is only available in the lobby.

Found this place on the Internet, for very reasonable price.
Half a block from railway station, just a few blocks from Tianamen Square (check out the sunrise flag raising ceremony at the square), wonderful helpful, friendly staff, and a bar open late.
A few restaurants on site, but we ate in the hunting behind the hotel - lovely.
All in all, a terrific place to base yourself.

Room Tip: Wonderful views over the park opposite, if you get a front room
