“Great Beijing Experience”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Easy location in an upscale mall. Dress appropriately. Extensive menu with photos makes ordering simple. Wonderful to see how they roast the duck in ovens at the center of the restaurant. Carp ponds in floor a real treat. We eat Peking duck often and this was the least greasy duck we have seen. Non duck lovers have page upon page of alternate choices. I'd give Da Dong an "excellent" if the Ladies Room had a functioning western toilet. There was one western toilet that was overflowing. The Chinese, foul smelling, hole in the floor toilet from which you cannot escape was a surprise and a disappointment here. Bring your own Kleenex as TP is seldom supplied.

“The Best Peking Duck Ever!!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We went here once when were were in Beijing on our way to Tian. Our guide told us about it since I looove PekingDuck. And it was totally awesome. From the pits where they cook the ducks, to the presentation of the carved duck with its bowl of condiments and the thin pancakes it was the best I've ever had.
We dreamed about it as we travelled throughout China, and when we had the opportunity for a layover in Beijing, even though it cost a couple hundred dollars for the extra layover I just had to go back for the duck. And it was magnificent.
Other dishes are also excellent including the Kung Pao Chicken and the sizzling beef, but the duck is well the best.
And if you're not alcohol drinkers, try the mint lemonade. Delightful.

“Try the Royal Peking duck”
Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

If you're staying nearby or in the area visiting the markets then this place is a must-visit. The menu is amazing, lots of things you've never heard of and the signature duck dish is incredible.

“Great Local restaurant”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We were staying across the street at the Kapok Hotel. Our local guide recommended this as a good place to experience local Beijing food. It was easier to order since the menu had pictures and the name of each dish in English.
The price value was very good. Each dish was served as soon as it came out from the kitchen! The server seemed surprised that we each ordered a large beer and a pot of tea. We enjoyed the dumplings, noodles and cabbage, pork shoulder and spicy pork and vegetables.

“Super essen”
Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

Ca 200m from our Hotel, we had fantastic dinner 4 pers paid 30 EUR. Friendly staff, a little shy because we are western and English. But a smile and a printed card helped us to have a great dinner. We had beef with black pepper sauce, cabbage and broccoli, pork with bamboo and chicken Szechuan. We tasted the wok, not so much Szechuanpepper. I had no glutamat reaction. The also offer roast duck. Good place after a log day for dinner an to see how Chinese families eat. Attention: no cutlery. Afterwards we walked over the nightfoodmarket in front.
