My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights in June/July 2013 and it was really incredible. The only real issue with the place is that it is really hard to find. We used the map they provided to walk from the subway and it took forever and we got really lost. So perhaps get a taxi instead. Also, most of the taxis won't drive you down the Hutong so look for Mr Shi's dumplings and it is on the opposite side of the road down a very narrow lane. Once you find it though, you will feel instantly at home. Lu was waiting to greet us and gave us our welcome box which included a mobile phone which we could use to call to hotel at any time should we get lost or need assistance. The rooms were beautiful and had comfy beds, rainforest showers and nice goji berry products. We stayed in one of the Courtyard rooms for 4 nights but at the last minute added another night and stayed in the Yang room which had a private terrace - lovely!! The breakfast was delicious (I recommend number 5) and the coffee was also excellent. Thanks to all the staff at the Orchid, I wouldn't hesitate to return.
