Stayed three nights here at start of Silk Road Tour. Probably one of the loveliest boutique hotels I have enjoyed, certainly in the middle of a major world city. Delightful first floor room, spacious, opening windows, very bright and cool. Excellent breakfast. Nothing too much trouble for well trained, cheerful Chinese staff.

No hesitation recommending for your base in Beijing!

Dear Queenscout

Thank you so very kindly for your thoughtful review.

We are by all accounts a Traditional Chinese Hotel and we strive to ensure that both our Western and Asian guests can feel comfortable here and ultimately call this their home away from home. I am very proud that we seem to have achieved just that.

Our location within a Traditional Chinese Hutong makes for an even more authentic experience. We are very fortunate that we are only a stones throw away from the thriving metropolis of Central Beijing yet neatly placed in a totally tranquil environment.

Once again I truly thank you for your amazing review and we all look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.

Kind Regards

Gavin

On our roundtrip we stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. The room is nicely decorated with a lovely bathroom. We had also a terrace which was great to drink our tea. The breakfast is delicious with chinese and western buffet. The staff is friendly and helpful at every moment.

The hotel is situated in a hutong. At night it was very quiet, no street noise, nothing.
There are two subway lines in the area; count 5-8 minutes walking time, depending on which line you take and what you want to visit. The walking distance in the subway can be sometimes very long.

You can rent bikes at the hotel. And they are for free. We really enjoyed to take the bikes even in the evening. It's a great adventure to bicycle in Beijing.

We also booked the tour to the Great Wall at the hotel what we can highly recommend. If you can share the car with another couple, the price will be shared too.

Room Tip: The room on the first floor with a nice terrace

This was my second time staying at the Red Wall Garden hotel. Great atmosphere (particularly the courtyard) with more character than the typical international hotels. Friendly and helpful staff and a convenient location next to the subway. Good value for the price. Highly recommend!

Dear Kai35

Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful feedback on the Hotel and surrounds. I am pleased to note an overall enjoyable stay here at The Red Wall Garden Hotel and in particular your amazing comments about our very dedicated team of staff.

Chinese Culture is always at the heart of what we deliver in relation to service and overall ambiance. The Red Wall Garden Hotel is often referred to by our guests as their "Home Away From Home" and a "Tranquil Oasis". The newly restyled Courtyard Bistro lends itself perfectly as a place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing and I am pleased you were able to enjoy all the facilities and touches we offer at the hotel.

Once again I Thank You for your feedback which I can assure you has been shared with the entire team and I look forward to your return and to personally welcoming you back to The Red Wall Garden Hotel family.

Kind Regards

Gavin

This is a pleasant hotel, less commercial and more rustic feeling than the fancy ones nearby and it is quiet. it is well located near a subway stop and a so it is easy to get from the hotel to many of the sites you want to see. the walk to the forbidden city is maybe half an hour..longer than it looks on the map. but all in all this is a well located hotel. the neighborhood is fairly upscale with several very fancy hotels pretty close by and so the shops nearby were fairly expensive. The breakfasts served at the R.Wall G. are diverse and filling with plenty to choose from each morning. They are spendy if you need to buy an extra meal. the management folks were very nice and also helpful with a few of them speaking good english. the evening courtyard bistro in the courtyard of the hotel had excellent, (although expensive) food and traditional chinese music (live) 5 nights a week. the atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice since it is outdoors but secluded from the street. my only complaint about the restaurant was the constant smoking of the clients who feel comfortable lighting up even if they are right at the table next to you and you are still eating. Apparently many restaurants are outlawing smoking but not this one. so if you are smoke sensitive, watch out. even though you are outside, you are likely to encounter smoke. Our room was comfortable although quite lacking in counter surface space especially in the bathroom. there was practically no space for toiletries and also no bath tub..but a very nice shower. the bed was a little soft and a bit too bouncy...very unlike most Chinese hotel beds!

Dear Carla D

Your review has totally summed up what we always focus on.....The Guest Experience....and I am so grateful that we were able to exceed your expectations on so many levels.

The Courtyard Bistro is indeed a fun environment where our guests can sit back and enjoy a selection of Chinese and Western fare. Our Executive Chef ensures that only the freshest and in season products are incorporated into all our offerings. I am so pleased you were able to enjoy all your dining experiences there. The Cultural Performance nights in the Courtyard Bistro are so popular now that I am considering adding an additional night to the week. I have also introduced different cultural and traditional shows so the enhancement is now much bigger. I am sure you'll love to see that when you hopefully next visit again.

The hotel is cozy yet comfortable. It offers the courtyard house atmosphere with sufficient modern comfort. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The location is great for it is only a few subway stops from the forbidden city and the staff is more than happy to order a taxi using the local app. Breakfast is good but dinner can be improved.
