It is a great amusement park with speedy rides but only for the older kids above 1.4m high. My children are 6 and 8 so they were too young for nearly all the rides. Plus lining up for 1.5 hour under hot sun in July was a terrible decision. It is not really worth it to go to an amusement park all the way in China - do something else worth while.

When walking around the park, Happy Valley Beijing appears to be a pleasant, well-themed amusement park with some great rides. However, the crazy staggered hours of the rides makes a visit quite a challenge! I've visited dozens of theme parks around the world, but never seen the crazy hours of Happy Valley Beijing. The park is basically open from 8:30 AM to 10 PM, but each ride has its own separate hours. For example, the premier coaster in the park 'Crystal Wings' (a B&M flying coaster) had a sign posted that it was open from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM!!!! This is the centerpiece of the whole park! Even then, it did not actually open until 2:00 PM and the clueless employees had no updates on the ride status after 1:30. Although there was a board out front of the park to indicate which rides would be closed that particular day, this also made no sense. There were rides on the list that did open during the day, and several (including the Harvest Time rollercoaster) that were not on the list but never opened at all! There is also at least two attractions, the train ride and the boat ride, that are not included in the admission fee - why not?!? I am not sure why this park simply doesn't reduce their hours and just operate everything during that time period like most theme parks across the globe. It is a shame because the park looks great and does have some great rides, but the owners have no clue how to operate a park properly. As a side note, some of the pics attached to this attraction on the TA website are from the Shanghai Happy Valley (for example, there is no wooden rollercoaster at Happy Valley Beijing).

We took the kids here on a weekday in Feb. It was cold, but the sun was out. They were short/young enough to only pay for the adults, so that helped.
Too early in the season for all the rides to be open. I think if everything open it would be worth the money. We went for the kids and stayed in the bug themed area. There was a ball house. We didn't like it, not much worked and it was very dirty. Some things you had to pay on top of entry free, I don't know if the movies were extra or not.
Our favorite was the carosel! Seems like a good place to go like Cedar Point. I think you'd get your moneys worth if you went just adults and leave the kids at home or if someone came to watch the kids.

I read some reviews that suggseted Happy Valley is great if you love roller coasters - I totally agree - this place has some excellent rides. My kids and I have a theory - if a ride does not have shoulder restratints, then it's not worth going on it. Happy Valley has 6 or 7 rides that have shoulder restraints - so, it ticks that box.
Wait times for rides varied from 2 or 3 minutes to over an hour - the wait time was as expected - the better the ride, the longer the wait time. I arrived about 11 am on a week day and wondered where all the people were - I soon found out they were all already waiting in lines for the rides.
Be patient, and line up for the best roller coasters - it will be obvious to you which ones I mean.
I suggest you quickly wander through the park upon arrival, select your key rides and then decide if you will line up. The lines do move relatively quickly

There were a lot of school kids there - maybe about 40% of the people in the park.
Tip - the school kids all exit the park at about 3 oclock. Make sure you plan accordingly.
And, make sure you check the ride closure times - don't get caught expecting to ride one of the better roller coasters after 5 oclock - it will be closed.
There are some good entertainment acts on a large stage not far from the entrance - worth spending up to an hour of your day watching the varied acts.
All in all, this is pretty good.
And, in my view, it's cheap - only 200 RMB entry, and you do not need to spend another cent if you don't want to.

Excellent for people who love thrills. A waste of money for people who are scared of them. Also beware of the strong winds from October to Winter. The rides would be closed if the weather is bad.
