“Very helpful staff!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

We reached the place around 11 and there were so many people already in line. We went ahead and waited in line and a middle aged lady casually came to stand in front of us which irritated me (Now we know that happens very often in China so I am cool). My husband was ready to leave as the line seemed too long and it was hot! Then, we saw a man who must have been a security guard there. We only asked him if we were standing on the right line (using google translator) and what he did in return was take us to some room in back with absolutely no one in line. We paid for our tickets and went in. So thankful to the man! We enjoyed our time inside the aquarium watching different fishes of different sizes and other sea creatures. The only thing we couldn't figure out was the show! We were told there would be a sea lion show! Never saw one. We asked a few people and never figured it out. All in all, a nice experience!

“Great for young kids”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Visited during the working weekend before the Labour Holiday and it was crowded with local school kids. It is great for young kids but having seen other places this place is over priced (RMB110 adults and kids above 1m RMB 80) for what it offers. The sharks and sea turtles inside had very limited space to swim and I actually felt "sorry" for them ........

Great when the air is bad outside as it is relatively close to where we live.

“Cool underwater fish/shark tunnel! Giant turtles!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

I had some free time here while my travel companions had work obligations. I walked here from my hotel and it was fairly easy to find. The tickets were kind of pricey (110 yuan), but the amount of pictures I took and the variety of fish and sharks was worth it. They have some nice smaller displays with just a few kinds of fish in each tank so it's easier to figure out what is what. You can get right up next to the glass and take some great pictures. The lion fish tank was really cool as well as the seahorses. They even had tiny baby seahorses...amazing how little they are. The big attraction are the sharks and giant turtles in my opinion. Some of the turtles they have are HUGE. Like, amazingly freakishly huge. There's one small tank with a couple sharks and another smaller tank with a few of the sea turtles. Then there's their GIANT seawater tunnel and main tank. There are lots of giant grouper, sand sharks, tiger sharks, sea turtles eels, etc. It has a moving walkway that takes you through it but you can also get off the walkway and take pictures or look around more if you want. I liked it so much, I actually went through the tunnel twice. I think they have different shows and stuff, too, but I wasn't there at the right time. There was a scuba diver at the bottom of the giant tank doing stuff with the sand. That was pretty neat to see someone in there with all the sharks and giant fish and everything!

Overall, I thought this was really pretty nice. It's a good 1-2 hour diversion, not too overwhelming and pretty easy to get to. Only downer is that they only have squat toilets in their bathroom...you'd think for 110 yuan per person they'd have western toilets! But it was clean at least.

A very average underwater world and pricey too considering the size of it.

My daughter loved it (she's only one and has not had much exposure to sea creatures) but an older, more exposed child may be so awed by it.

But overall, a good way to spend time in Beijing indoors when the weather or air quality does not permit outdoor activities.

It should be made cheaper but the price didn't stop the throng of locals who were there by the busloads.

“Good indoor outing”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

I went to blue zoo on weekend , its a little pricey as 90 RMP for adult and 60RMP for kids taller than 1meter . We enjoyed the walk under the aquarium ,saw many kinds of fish and sharks it was realy new thing to us . also we touched the starfish and I enjoyed seeing jellyfish . i read that there are shows of dolphin but didnt meet any dolphins , also they offer diving lessons in the aquarium which i think is an interesting experience .

All in all its a good place to go on a cold winter day in beijing.
