“Calling - Art Lovers, Cafe Lovers, Lovers of cool walk abouts”

There's much to say about this place.

One has to go to 798 to see great art work, lovely cafes, locals and non-locals hanging out because we all have one thing in common - we love art, cafes and hanging where there are other art lovers, cafe lovers all hanging out loving...you get the idea!

You can spend on hour or 4 hours at 798. Great coffee and food and fabulous artwork spread all over. Shops too for those who love to buy "stuff."

Remember that Monday is often a closing day for gallery's - and 798 is no exception. There were some spaces open but many were closed. I went on a Monday to hook up with friends for a coffee because it was central for us. It's the 2nd time I was there and I will return next time I am in Beijing.

“My favorite attraction in Beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

This is a must do in Beijing. It is a great place to stroll and sop and look at Art Galleries, shops, and have a coffee or a meal. This was an old manufacturing area that was abandoned, and turned into shops and galleries. You can spend an hour or 4 hours looking at all of the art on the street and in galleries. It's so different than anything in Beijing. A true fun out door laid back activity to do that is away from the crowds of people.

When I come back, this is the first place I will visit and make a point to guide others to visit.

“impressive”

Eclectic displays in galleries and on the street, interesting crafts and cutting edge design shops (+86 is very cool). Nice place also to wander around and stop in for pizza and beer.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

I didn't visit 798 Art Zone on my first trip to Beijing as I had to knock out all of the required sites, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, T'men Square, etc. Last month I went back and decided to take a look at 798 Art Zone. Very glad I did, it's an immense compound spread over many blocks, consisting of dozens of dozens pf one and two story galleries. from carved stones to Jeff Koons like creations, photography to fabrics, this area has it all and in serious numbers. I thought I'd spend an hour and left after three having seen only a portion of what is there.

“Must see”

If you are interested in Modern art, this is a must see. Many, many original artists display their work here. The future of China is in this place.
