This district is an interesting peek into the modern art scene going on in Beijing. The many galleries are open to the public with regularly changing exhibits. There are also cafes and shops for those looking for something "different" to bring home from their trip.

Beijing's answer to the contemporary art world. Lots of great shops, art galleries, restaurants. If you love art, this is a sure bet with a wide variety of galleries from the high end to the alternative.

798 art zone is a place to visit to see the innovative and artistic side of Beijing. You dont't have to be an art expert to appreciate the things ere. In fact, you can always check yourself into any cages and read a book there, especially when the weather is so lovely now.

The area is huge. You probably need a few hours to cover the whole area. I like this shop selling clothes. Outside the shop, a soothing music is playing. It's comforting to just sit outside the shop to listen to the music.

It's like SoHo in 1950, just at the beginning before it took off and got crazy. There are art galleries, restaurants, bars, and book stores all located in a warehouse district of old brick buildings that are renovated. It's trendy but very low key and laid back. Diverse and interesting.
