This was my family's first home in Beijing during my expatriate assignment. Basically Millennium is ok but a few comment for those who plan to stay a longer time in Beijing. Millennium Residences is close to 3rd ring road so the traffic nearby is rather heavy. On the other hand there are many shops and restaurants in CBD within walking distance. Connections by Metro are quite good. Also taxi is quite well available.

The bedrooms have carpets which we did not like as they did not look that clean. The cleaning of the apartment was not that good in the beginning but clearly improved upon noticing and by change of cleaning person. The apartment does not have tight filters for the incoming air. In smoggy days which unfortunately are quite common in Beijing it is better to keep the air-con or heating system off as the ventilation takes always some outside air for circulation. Air purifiers are recommended in any case. Those are not provide by the Millennium Residences.

Some issues we experienced: when we had problems with washing machine it took quite sometime to change the washing machine from used to another used until they got a new one which eventually worked. The language skills of the maintenance staff was limited to Chinese. There were a few persons in the front desk who could speak English and even someone local who spoke with such strong Australian accent that even genuine Australians would have difficulties to comprehend what was the message. A small dish washing machine made by Haidar was a total scrap. After washing the plates and glasses were dirtier than before entering into dishwasher. The final decision to move out was when the air-con system started to leak in a bedroom. First time it was ok as we were there when the water come out. After second time the painting of room was falling down with the leak and that was the final incident that make us to decide to change the place.

We stayed in a 3 bedrooms layout. The layout of living room with cheap imitation leather sofas was inconvenient for guests. The bedrooms were spacious though. The kitchen was a trouble as there was not much space for kitchenware if you bring your own things along. For a bachelor or a family not cooking it is ok. The LCD TVs in living room and master bedroom were of old design and the picture quality not so good. As in most other places in China the TV programs are vetted. When it comes to critical views on China, the TV just goes blank.

Since the water quality in China is poor we installed water filters in kitchen for washing vegetables and fruits. The standard tap was not compatible with the filtering system but the Millennium staff changed the tap to make it compatible. Millennium provided a few large bottles of water free of charge. That was a good and necessary service.

Millennium offered some additional services such as "free" breakfast, laundry and gym in the Millennium hotel. They added some value for our staying but not enough to stay longer than 8 months.

If we were to choose now we would go to some other place but it depends what you want. Millennium can be a good place if you eat out and have your clothes washed in a laundry and are not too worried of the living conditions. In any case do not pay the rental the apartment or agent requests, there are other places around with more to offer. Remember to to bargain!

We stayed for a few days while we had a holiday in Beijing. The service was excellent. They delivered a water dispenser to us even we just stayed for a few days. The master bed room was spacious. The double bed in the other room was a little bit small for 2 persons. The restaurant was small but the variety was enough and some items changed everyday. Guests can also use the gym and swimming pool of the Millennium Hotel, which was new and big. The kids did have a good time staying there.

We found the Millenium Residences location to be lovely. It was near many restaurants, cafes and near many attractions. The staff were friendly in helping if you needed something. The residences were clean, modern and fun. We had a lovely stay. The metro is also a short walk away which was great. It is in a very fun location.

I have stayed one year in Millennium Residences, and overall it is working. But there have been some hickups, like missing warm water for 2 weeks and only very serious mails to the manager helped this problem. Also, the room rate has gone up again, making it too pricy. There are more than 1 million empty apartments in Beijing and they still choose to increase prices. Many people have been forced to leave.
