Although we weren't able to enter the stadium, it was still great to see. The design was very different. Take pics!

“More amazing than expected”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

I had a conference at the International Convention Center, just across from Olympic Park and had a couple hours to explore before leaving the area. Just walked around the Birds Nest, but unexpectedly found it to be absolutely fascinating! The stadium is lighted in different colors at night. Great for photos and a wonderful place to watch Chinese as well. Probably not worth paying the fee to go inside the stadium unless you're a real Olympics history buff, but very enjoyable to circle on foot, for which there's no charge.

“Photo attraction both day and night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

Grand architecture to take photo with. You could go in the evening and then have dinner at a nearby shopping mall and then return at night to take photo. The Bird Nest is very beautiful at night with its red lighting and also the beautifully blue-lighted Water Cube opposite. If you wish to take a look at the gigantic stadium inside, you would have to pay an entrance fee, currently the track is close for repairs and I could not enter the tracks unless I want to ride the segway. There is a souvenir shop near the tracks if you wish to buy Bird Nest related souvenirs.

“Nice on a postcard”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2012

The stadium complex is quite impressive - along with the rest of the 2008 facilities. We took some pictures outside and were offered a tour of the internal complex - for 50RMB per person. We declined as we just coulcn't see the point. It is an empty stadium - you've seen one; you've seen them all! It looks good as a postcard picture so do take the metro there and take a shot outside. Unless it is your thing, I suggest you skip the tour.

In the evenings, the pedestrianised space outside the complex comes alive with music from buskers and street hawkers. It is a great place to hang out while giving your food time to digest and while planning where to visit next.
