We had a group dinner here and it was perfection. 10 courses, each delicious, and the opportunity to watch it be prepared. The black sesame ice cream for dessert was the highlight--save room. This compound also teaches cooking classes and other traditional Chinese arts.

This was an excellent meal and a fantastic way to meet new people and gain a better understanding for Chinese culture and food. I live in Beijing and this ranks as one of the best meals I've had. Dinner started with pork and pumpkin dumplings that were cooked to perfection, the mushroom and carrot dish along with the eggplant was amazing. They cooked Chairman Mao’s favorite pork dish as well as a shrimp/cucumber and carrot entrée. The black sesame ice cream with the bananas reminiscent of Bananas Foster was the perfect end to the meal. Great atmosphere, cozy dining room and Coco was a gracious host. This is the perfect place to get a sense of Chinese culture, I will take all my guests there in the future!

What can I say? The 10 course set menu was simply wonderful. The hostess coco is very attentive, keeping an eye on our wine glasses and refilling when necessary. Al courses were delicious, my favourite was the red braised pork, crispy and tender at the same time. My wife is vegetarian, but this was no problem at all. Every course which was not vegetarian they prepared something delicious for her as well. Sitting at the long table you can see the chefs cooking via a mirror attached to the ceiling and we had a nice chat with the people sitting next to us. If I ever go back to Peking is Will certainly visit again. Be sure to make a reservation.

We loved our black sesame experience. It was nice to get together with other tourists from all over the world and hear their experiences. We were lucky enough to get some tips from shanghai locals of where to go on our next stop of our trip. The food was delicious. So much variety and we definitely didn't leave hungry! Plenty of wine as well. Our host was lovely and it truly was a very memorable experience. Definitely recommended.
