“Michelle was so kind”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

We had a reservation to dine at Black Sesame Kitchen during our recent stay in Beijing, but unfortunately our Chinese guest was hospitalized so we called a few days ahead to cancel our reservation.

We spoke to Michelle, who extended the invitation to keep the reservation--even though it would only be two of us instead of the normal minimum of four persons. We gratefully accepted, but had to cancel yet again when one of us developed food poisoning the day before.

Michelle was kind enough to recommend SOS International, a clinic where we could see an English-speaking doctor who prescribed antibiotics and rehydration salts.

So despite not having the opportunity to sample the food at Black Sesame Kitchen, we want to recognize the fact that the BSK team far exceeded our expectations in the service category with their friendly concern for strangers in need of advice and sympathy.

“What a fun night!”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Best meal in Beijing and what a fun night too! I hadn't quite realized it was communal seating so felt bad we were the last on our table to arrive but we slotted right in and where having a blast with our new dining friends almost immediately. The food was amazing.......so fresh, full of flavors, innovative and it just kept coming. As tricky a time as we had in Beijing overall, it would be worth going back simply to eat at Black Sesame again. If you can get in you MUST go!

“Black Sesame Kitchen”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

My wife and I had a very unique dining experience at Black Kitchen. Food was outstanding. We had the 9 course fixed menu and all the dishes were prepared just right...and all with different flavors. The communal dining experience was great as we had opportunity to sit and chat with people from around the world. Our dining hosts, Coco and Yao were super. Black Sesame is a not to miss when in Beijing.

“What a treat”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Took family visiting Beijing. What a treat! Great service, the home style sharing works really well and the food is amazing. Book early and try to get a seat at the table in the kitchen area. It is 10 courses and just as you're thinking you can't eat anything better, the dessert is AMAZING!!! Black Sesame will be a compulsory attraction for all future visitors I have to Beijing. Book well in advance.

“Best in Beijing...maybe China”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

I live in Beijing and this by far is the best restaurant here. Very difficult to find as it is pretty much next door to the Wiggly bar in the hutongs. The restaurant have basically two large tables. I would advise asking for the one in the kitchen where you can watch them cooking. There is even a mirror tilted 45 degrees so you can see the food being prepared.

The price is all inclusive so for 300rmb it includes all food and wine or beer.
