There are some restaurants that make you feel as if you have "arrived" somewhere. Capital M is one of those restaurants. In fine weather, you can dine outside with a breathtaking view of Tiananmen Square, the cathedral-esque Beijing Railway Station and one of the old gates to the city. It almost didn't matter what the food was like but it happened to be exquisite. We shared a lettuce-less Greek salad, an impeccable piece of sea bass sitting prettily atop a base of custardy eggplant and greens and something called a smorgasbord platter. The latter consisted of a generous serving of about five tapas-like cold treats such as brie with cucumbers and eel in scrambled eggs. The food was served with a delicious bread basket and butter. Inside the restaurant was well-appointed but we only had eyes for that view. I thought the lunch prices were quite reasonable and the service was extremely courteous and prompt. It would be fun to go back at night and enjoy the skyline with the city lights twinkling.
