“Room with a View”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

There are some restaurants that make you feel as if you have "arrived" somewhere. Capital M is one of those restaurants. In fine weather, you can dine outside with a breathtaking view of Tiananmen Square, the cathedral-esque Beijing Railway Station and one of the old gates to the city. It almost didn't matter what the food was like but it happened to be exquisite. We shared a lettuce-less Greek salad, an impeccable piece of sea bass sitting prettily atop a base of custardy eggplant and greens and something called a smorgasbord platter. The latter consisted of a generous serving of about five tapas-like cold treats such as brie with cucumbers and eel in scrambled eggs. The food was served with a delicious bread basket and butter. Inside the restaurant was well-appointed but we only had eyes for that view. I thought the lunch prices were quite reasonable and the service was extremely courteous and prompt. It would be fun to go back at night and enjoy the skyline with the city lights twinkling.

“Simply lovely”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Five of us had a great lunch here. The service was exceptional and the food -well what can I say? Try the salmon and mackeral starter with the picked cucumber-presentation and taste were so good I nearly cancelled the main meal to have another one. he lychee cocktail slipped down a treat. Not at all average as a recent reviewer commented. I will now try the Capital M in Shanghai next week and make a comparison and review. Perhaps we will do afternoon tea this time.

“Wow! What a view and what delicious food”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I went here with some work colleagues for dinner on a trip to Beijing and was really impressed with the view and the food. The menu is one of those where you can't decide because everything sounds so good. I had the "Crispy Suckling Pig with salsify batons, sautéed silverbeet, roasted green peppers....and a good pig sauce" and it was delicious. The service was excellent. Also while we were there they were promoting a Literary Festival which sounded really interesting.

“Average expensive food”
Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

Restaurant decor is interesting and the outside seats offer a view of one of the gates of T square. I had pork neck in mustard sauce which came without veggies and was extraordinarily salty. We were planning on staying for dessert but decided not to risk it. Expensive average western food. There is much better in Beijing.

“Perfect brunch at the weekend.......”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Service, food and atmosphere were fantastic. A great location to spend a couple of hours overlooking tianaman square. Not normally ones for desserts but we were tempted by the variety on offer and were not disappointed. Would definitely recommend to others. Kids reckon chocolate milk shakes and watermelon juice were a must.
