“Thanks Happy Dragon Hostel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2013

Few good things why I like this hostel:
1. relatively cheap than other hostels in Beijing;
2. near to some tourist destinations (which technically if you are not too lazy to walk, you can just walk to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City for 15 mins);
3. very near to a subway station (which is a very efficient means of public transportation rather than taking a cab);
4. the staff can understand and speak in English; and
5. they have a good and accommodating service.

The hostel have a bed, aircon, tv, shower with heater and wifi; enough for a traveler who just wanted a place to stay for a night (or two). "You get what you paid for", so I didn't expect to get a fancy accommodation services; however, the services of Happy Dragon Hostel is more than enough to what I paid for. :)

For a traveler, I think all that matters is a place to rest and leave things while roaming around the city, which I actually enjoyed in Happy Dragon Hostel. :)

1. Not the cheapest but good value enough
2. Friendly staff who can speak English
3. Local neighbourhood, but close enough to many places and near a subway station
4. Restaurant/bar is kinda expensive though

The hostel has good quality/price and the staff speaks english and is very friendly . It´s close to the metro so you can go very easily to any location in Pequim. The rooms are not amazing, but they are ok.

Heard some great reviews, but maybe I was just unlucky. Room is ok for a hostel, although the bathroom is very small. Asked the receptionist what nice places where for going out, but she didnt know.

In the morning at 8 the cleaningladies are shouting all over the dorms, so made my day very long:-). All in all I wouldbt stay again.

Mattresses in dorms are just thin slabs of foam. Some dorm bathrooms are in convenient to standing. Wifi foes not reach sll rooms. But clean enough and the staff is excellent. They even offered to help us make travel reservations after we left their property.

Stayed 2 nights at RMB260 a night plus RMB100 key deposit. Nice enough hostel with nice cafe with a decent selection of food, great coffee and a small outdoor sitting area. WIFI worked strongly in lobby / cafe but 2/10 in the room on 2nd floor. Basic room with aircon and open shower. Bed was very very hard and not the best of sleeps unless that is your thing. Sleeping on top of the duvet provided helped the 2nd night. Reception and cafe staff very helpful and speak good English. Located off a Main Street down an alley but pretty close to Dongsi subway station. A little bit of early morning (5am) noise from people cleaning and setting up a food stall and you also pick up any corridor noise so bring your ear plugs if your a light sleeper. Staff and cafe make up any shortfalls in the other areas and reasonable value for money.

If you want a cheap hotel that offers OK rooms, this is the place for you. If you want a party hostel with lots of fun, perhaps not. It is basically a cheap hotel with nice staff and good trips to the Great Wall. It doesn't have much atmosphere and is not the place to meet other travellers really. But I would probably stay again as it was a decent hostel with good staff. You know what you are going to get here.
