My husband was a swimmer so we enjoyed seeing the competition pool aspect of the Water Cube but the whole building seems to be crumbling and badly maintained on the inside. Its as if it was finished hurriedly and badly and just hasn't lasted. Tiles cracked, toilet door locks broken, walls dirty and cracked. Outside paving full of weeds and full of rubbish. Only worthwhile from a distance and at night for the lighting I think.

We took our three children and were a bit surprised about the price (approx 700 RMB for 5 of us) but thought it would be worth it. How wrong were we. The toilets and changing rooms were utterly squalid. Both stank strongly of urine and the floor was filthy with litter strewn everywhere. No doors on the changing rooms. We decided to leave but then spent 45 minutes trying to get a refund. In the end we managed to negotiate 50%. It was a truly disgusting and dispiriting experience and I would recommend strongly to avoid it.

Even we visited the water cube on a weekday, it was crazy crowded. Unfortunately I was surprised how small that place is inside, I really expected it to be bigger. Some of the water slides really made fun, but waiting 30min for not more than 30sec fun seems not really worth it. Moreover some of the slides were even closed when we visited the cube. Also there is no real place for swimming, what I would expect for the high entrance fee. All together the water cube is nice, but just too small for that many people visiting it, and the price really seems to be a little bit too high.

Waterpark inside aimed at families. Lots of rides for kids and only 3 rides suitable for adults, but very fun slides. Has a wave pool and a big screen so you can watch TV whilst chilling in the pool. Serves basic snacky foods

If you have time, you must go see and experience the Water Cube. It's a great site for kids, too. Inside, you can see the diving venue. You can swim in the Olympic sized pool. There is also a huge indoor water park section. We were unable to utilize the water park on our visit as we only had 3 days in Beijing and had to see more sites. However, if we go back to Beijing again, it would be on my wish list.
