Cute Hotel. Friendly staff. Bring / buy your own drinking water. They don't offer complimentary bottle of water. Another thing, have your money changed to Chinese Yuan in the airport. 161 Hotel don't have a foreign exchange service. We also had a difficulty in looking for a foreign currency exchange counter nearby. Restaurants near the hotel serves delicious Chinese cuisine & are reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Prepare your CNY200 upon check-in to the hotel for deposit if booking is made via credit card. This...

This is a very nice little hotel in a Hutong (small alley), and it is a quite safe and very clean place. The staff is allways very nice and pleased to help you, and speak quite good English, especially when you think in chinese standards. They are also very honests when booking you a tour, or a cab, what is way more then the majority of other hotels.
Some rooms can be really small, especially the cheapest ones, and the bathrooms are not very big, and when taking a shower do expect it to get completely flooded.

I am on a trip around the world. I am traveling the London to Singapore segment by train. I booked every hotel in every city based upon Trip Advisor. I usually chose highly rated budget hotels in each city.
161 Hotel Lishi Hutong, Beijing China is the 11th stop of my journey. The location is excellent, on a sunny street in the middle of the Hutongs. The room had a bed, a flat screen tv, and in the bathroom a toilet and a shower.

I rode my folding bike about 120 km during the three days I stayed there. Tiananmen square, the Forbidden City, the Olympic games area, the Dong Hua Men Night Market, and Beihai Park are within easy riding distance. The metro system is fast, clean, efficient and easy to understand.

Cosy little hotel, good for backpackers and small family. Wifi is good and strong even in hotel rooms. Room is clean with basic necessary. Breakfast is not included with stay.

There were few local restaurants next to hotel so one could go find easily, even late at night.

Staffs were friendly and speak good English. Location is near subway and bus stop is also very near so taking buses can also be an option of travel.
