the hostel was located in an alley and a bit hard to find especially during at night time, nevertheless, it's near the subway station and is a walking distance to the lama temple. the people were so kind and helpful in assisting us and even booked a taxi on our way back to the airport. i would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting in Beijing

We are backpackers and have stayed in many hostels but this one us the best we have stayed in!

Only 2 minor negatives but nothing major. Firstly we got lost trying to find the hostel. We followed the instructions given on the website that we booked the hostel through but we still couldn't find the hostel. Nobody in local shops seemed to know where it was and we almost gave up after an hour of searching because we were so tired from the long journey from shanghai and carrying back packs.

Luckily we returned to the station where a kind Chinese man who spoke very good English typed the address into his GPRS phone and walked us to the hostel. Bless him!

The directions on the website said to 'turn right out of the station' but failed to say 'turn right again' so we carried on walking. If we had known to turn right again then we would have seen a big sign directing us to the hostel from there onwards. Never mind. The hostel is located quite far into an alley way.

When we finally arrived at the hostel we were pleasantly greeted by very friendly and accommodating staff who cared very much and had great pride in the hostel. They poured us coffee (much needed!) and showed us around. They gave us a leaflet with the hostel's Chinese address on it in case we needed it for future reference. Lovely touch. Noting was too much trouble for the staff. This hostel was our final stop in china and there was a key deposit on 100 cny but we didn't want to have 100 cny when we checked out only to spend at the airport, so we requested to swap our cash deposit for a passport which was not a problem.

The tea and coffee facilities are available all day everyday which we absolutely loved!!! Also only 15cny for beer on tap. But one get one free!

Breakfast is provided, which brings me to my second negative. It was lovely to have breakfast provided, jam and peanut butter on toast, Banana, tea and coffee. Perfect! However it is only available from 7am to 9am. I've never known breakfast to finish so early. I can only guess that it is because breakfast is in reception and they don't want guests loitering reception for too long. However it is a free facility which is a fantastic facility to have.

There are two common room areas which were fab and 2 computers with Internet access aswell as free wifi. The tv has a USB port and we had a hard drive with lots of movies on for everybody to enjoy.

We booked a trip to the Great Wall through the hostel. It was 280cny which included transport there and back and lunch. It was brilliant!!! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was brilliant and there were No stops at any shops, just there and back, 1.5hours each way. We even enjoyed tabboganning back down from the wall (at an additional cost when there).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lucky family hostel and highly recommend! Remember when you come out of exit b at the station beginning with 'z' turn right and then right again!

Best hostel so far in China. We arrived in the middle of the night and were warmly greeted and given tea and refreshments. The dorms are spacious, lovely big bunks with pristine sheets. The rooms are also lovely and warm which was a big plus as Beijing in winter is COLD! The communal areas are lovely and cosy with free access to computers and internet, wide screen TV with selection of DVD's too. The best provision of this hostel has to be the 24hour free tea and coffee and also the breakfast is included in the price consisting of toast,butter/jam, peanut butter, muesli and warm milk. The staff were soooooo friendly and helpful, helped us plan the next stage of our trip and any queries we had about Beijing. We also left in the early hours in the morning and a staff member was up and had the breakfast on and came out to wave us off in the taxi!! The closest place to home since leaving home 5 months ago. STAY HERE if you stay in Beijing its close to train and bus so easy access to everything.

It was in Hutong Area, and near to subway / bus station.
I was arrived there around 7pm, and it was very dark, so I was a bit afraid, but actually it was safe that the area is for people who are living. There is a sign to reach the hostel, so it was not that difficult to find it.
If you come from the Beijing airport , you can take the Airport Express (25yuan),and at the last staion (Dongzhimen) you can change to subway , or, if you have 1yuan you can take the bus no,106 and get off at dongsishierlu 东四12路. but you need exact change,1yuan !!

The hostel is not that expensive, I used the 6Mixed dorm, it was cozy . but the shower room is only one, ,,,but if you wake up early or ..really late, it doesn't matter!!
the breakfast is tea, coffee, and toast. Offering breakfast is good >_< you don't need to go out to buy something.
And around hostel, just few blocks away , there are many many restaurants~~

the staffs are also very kind. you will be happy stay here.

The Lucky Family Hostel is a great place to stay. It has all the facilities and amenities travelers look for: budget prices, free wifi, clean rooms, free luggage storage, close to the subway, free coffee and toast in the morning. But what really makes this hostel stand out is the super welcoming and friendly staff. I celebrated my birthday while staying here, and they went out of their way to make it special. I would definitely stay here again.

This is probably one of the nicest rooms we've had in a hostel in china. Stayed in a double for 3 nights and will probably be coming back to this hostel before we leave Beijing.
Breakfast is simple but nice and FREE! Toast and orange juice etc. very clean hostel and friendly staff.
Wifi is great here too! We came in November so it was pretty cold but our room was always toasty!
Location is great, near a metro and near some streets with great restaurants.

Only negative is perhaps the website says it has a bar and cafe but this is not the case, the breakfast is do it yourself and that is the only food that is on offer apart from snacks and bottled drinks.
And the hostel is a little quiet with small common rooms. If your looking for a party hostel this isn't the place but its one or the nicest we've been to! And very reasonably priced, cheapest we came across in Beijing (for a double room) and with free breakfast!

What a wonderful stay! Staff were so friendly and helpful, room was very comfortable and clean. Very close to the subway and in a great area. It was quiet but close enough to restaurants. Breakfast was nice and simple (tea/coffee/juice and toast). Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. One small problem, the windows didn't close particularly well, but you can keep your valubles with the hostel staff. Other than that, a perfect stay.
