Our connecting flight (Hong Kong to Toronto) was cancelled in Beijing and there was nobody from Air Canada at the airport to help us at all. After three hours (I was very pregnant and exhausted), we ended up following an airport employee who promised to take us to a "5-star" hotel. Free airport shuttle. At the hotel, nobody spoke or understood English. This was extremely frustrating. Every floor and room smelled like cigarette smoke although I asked for a non-smoking room. There were waist high ash trays next to every elevator. "5-star" in China is very, very misleading. It's more like 1-star in North America. The shower was a shower head over the toilet, no shower or bath stall or curtain. You had to literally shower over the toilet and the entire bathroom would get submerged by water. The "slippers" were plastic flip flops from previous guests, very gross! The toilet paper rolls, when new, have half an inch of toilet paper on them (as a pregnant lady, I was using the bathroom frequently, and then every half hour I had to chase down someone to get more toilet paper!). The room was dark when lit. All of the phone instructions were in Chinese, so we couldn't figure out how to dial out. The decor was drab and had old brown carpet. We went downstairs to the "restaurant", waited a long time, and got a warm beer and an inedible sandwich. I was starving and pregnant and couldn't eat it, it tasted that bad. In the morning, still hungry, we went to the second-floor restaurant. They had expensive Chinese food that was mediocre. The fruit juice was warm. Nobody spoke English and they nodded a lot. It was the worst hotel I had ever been in. Ironically, I saw chinese air flight crews and employees in their uniforms checking in at the hotel lobby. The next time I get unexpectedly stuck at an airport overnight, I will go to the nearest Hilton chain hotel. The Aulympic hotel in Beijing was the worst travel experience I ever had, compounded by the airplane cancellation at nighttime in an airport and hotel where nobody spoke English, and the rooms and food were terrible.

We stayed at this hotel both when we fly into Beijing late at night and had an early morning flight out and then again when we flew back from Western China to Beijing and were flying out the next morning.
Our favorite part about this hotel was it's close proximity to the airport and that it has an airport shuttle. The shuttle can be difficult to identify since the white shuttle van looks like every other hotel shuttle and doesn't clearly identify (in English) the hotel on it.
However once we found the shuttle by it's license plate # we were set. The hotel staff was efficient and professional, which at 1:00 a.m. was more important to us than friendliness.
The rooms are adequate, clean and small. Be prepared for hard Chinese beds, not soft Western ones.
The hotel breakfast cost 20 yuan per person which seems maybe a little bit high. It is a traditional Chinese buffet-style breakfast. There was plenty of food and lots of options, though I would have appreciated seeing some fresh fruit.
I'd recommend this hotel if you are just passing through Beijing, it is convenient and the airport shuttle leaves often. However if you are planning to spend some time in Beijing you may want to consider something a little closer to the city and a bit more comfortable.

We booked this stay as a part of Air China layover through Beijing on the way to Ulan Bator, Mongolia. Upon initial research there were two hotels Air China can put people in, and this was the better of the two.

Room was small (bathroom was actually very large compared to the room) but sufficient. Bed was comfortable enough (especially by Asian standards). Room was clean and smoke free. Walls are a bit thin so we heard every "ding" of the elevator.

Restaurant on premises was good, not the cheapest, but two of us had more food than we needed for ~ 110rmb (< $20).

The best part was the convenient shuttle from and to Terminal 3 of Capital Airport (PEK).

Worth a stay, but location is really only convenient for airport access.

Room Tip: You may want to insist on a non-smoking room (we did). Also, we ended up with a room by the elevator...

Myself and colleague were different from most visitors in that we were here for an extended stay - 7 days to visit the New China Exhibition Centre.
This hotel is geared for 1 night stopovers - we had to pay on a daily basis (not a problem but not convenient); room was not properly cleaned each day (I guessed that they thought as we were staying more than one night there was no need to make the bed each day or change the glasses in the bathroom - although they did replace the towels and empty the bin each day).
TV and aircon remotes went missing from room at cleaning time, but quick visit to reception bought them back from housekeeping (inconvenient at worst).
Breakfast - chinese breakfast cost and extra £2; didnt each the Chinese food (just didnt like it, nothing wrong I am sure all the Chinese guests were getting platefuls), just took the tea and toast (there is a cafe bar in the lobby but quite expensive as is the lobby shop - £1.50 bottle of water that costs 10p in shop opposite, beware!).
Reception were very friendly; tried to speak English and even taught us some Chinese - they are not being rude as some say on here - rather they are just very busy.
Shuttle to and from airport worked well; picked up very quickly and left on time to airport, free and no problems whatsoever.
Hotel is located near to some local restaurants and small supermarkets; my tip for good local food turn right out of hotel on to main road and at T junction there is a chinese restaurant with good local food and beer and they door an outdoor barbeque once a week, worth the visit. Other than that you could try the CITIC hotel which is next door to this restaurant (European style food and pricing) or continue to the right at this T junction and take the first right - there you will find a street full of local restaurants - we never had a bad meal! (avoid the duck feet and chicken brains, turtle soup with whole turtles and donkey meat for those with weak stomach but other than that....its great, spicy and cheap for Europeans).
Would I stay there again... Well we paid £35 a night, some colleagues at the CITIC paid a £100 more than that - and we all slept in clean rooms for just 6 or seven hours - so over the week my small company saved £1400 for two us... would I stay again... yes is the answer for those savings).
Go with an open mind that this is £35 a night - yes the breakfast is chinese but its ony £2 - the shuttle bus is free so how can that be wrong - the staff are chinese, get over it, they dont speak great english and I dont speak any chinese but they still worked hard and smiled.
My advice is: If you want clean and good budget stay here.....

This hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport. Suggest you use the shuttle service. I emailed the hotel with our arrival information and received an email how to meet up with the driver if he is not at the designated area. You need to call and then hand the phone to someone at the information desk. It is difficult for taxi's to find the hotel even with a map given at reception. It is inside a residential complex. The room is clean, small and has good wi-fi. The shuttle is on the half hour. There was always someone at reception that spoke some English. Also when our taxi driver back from Beijing called the hotel reception for directions apparently they gave good directions. It is not luxury but works for an early morning flight. I would not recommend it for sightseeing as it is a 45 drive into Beijing, but for an airport stopover it is adequate.

Stayed here on an 18 hour stop-over on the way to the Philippines that was arranged by Air China due to a cancelled flight. We had already flown from London so were very tired and jet lagged but the staff on reception were rude, immature and unwelcoming and were openly gossipping and laughing at us with eachother in Mandarin making no effort to communicate with us. I do not expect them to speak English but their body language communication was terrible. We had a 2 hour nap and couldn't wait to get out of there, we had to use our own initiative to find our way into the city centre and we got dirty looks when we checked out half a day early. We were very annoyed at Air China for placing us here, it was old-fashioned, depressing and had a horrible atmosphere.
