Rooms were clean, very nice bathroom and shower. staff was very friendly.
We didn't try breakfast or anything so can't comment on that. There is a street nearby full of nice local Chinese restaurants.
Good value for money. Would stay here again.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2012

I stayed here for 5 nights in July.

The location of the hotel is brilliant - half way between Wangfujing walking street and the Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square. Thankfully, most of the sights I needed were within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants in the areas north of the hotel, as well as the nightly food market where you can try things like fried scorpions and snake, as well as more conventional Chinese street food. The only downside of the location is the difficulty to get a taxi - the road was always busy but the only taxis that would go past were occupied. Also, the convenience stores nearest to the hotel were not "chain" stores and didn't state their prices on the products, and I suspect they inflate the prices for foreigners - one place tried to sell me a beer for 18RMB that would have been less than half that price at a reputable convenience store.

The staff were attentive and spoke English, the tour desk people were very competent and organised several things for me. Wifi was free in the lobby and worked well enough.

The room was basic and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious with a really well flowing shower and convenient liquid soap/shampoo dispensers, but there was a funky smell coming from the drain or the toilet (couldn't pinpoint it, but I assure you I didn't make the smell myself!) that filtered through to the rest of the room. You could really notice it when you first stepped into the room from the hallway. I admit I never told the hotel of the smell, they may have been able to remedy the problem had I reported it. Also, the noise from the hallway filtered into the room as if the door wasn't even closed. I had neighbours who seemed to make a heap of noise late at night when coming back to their rooms. The window of my room faced an internal area of the hotel where a cleaner would store her mop and bucket, so I would get woken up in the morning by the cleaner opening and closing the door that accesses this area.

Overall, the hotel is basic and the room fairly comfortable, but other than the location and the staff (both of which were excellent), I cannot really recommend this hotel as the room was below standard for a variety of reasons. Some of this could come down to the particular room I was given, but in my opinion it wasn't good enough.

Decent hotel, nothing special. Front desk english speaking was fair at best. The location of the hotel was perfect, being a short 10 minute walk to the square/forbidden city, and Wangfujing street for the nasty critter market. Paid 105 per night for a two twin beds on the fourth floor.

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights during the first week of April 2012.
These are my comments:

1. Booking - was done online
2. Check-in - was at the hotel early in the morning as we took a night flight. Staff was nice enough to allow us to check in the room early. Top marks here!
3. Room - spacious enough for the 2 of us, clean but lighting is dim
4. Toilet - big enough, clean and everything in good working order. Water pressure was good.
5. Check-out -- quite smooth. Front desk call for a taxi for us at no extra charge. We paid what was displayed on the taxi meter.
6. Location - super

The location just in the middle between Tiananmen Square/The Forbidden City and the modern shopping area is Super. The room size was adequate for the three of us. The big downside was the cleanliness of the room. Those carpets haven't been cleaned in a long, long time, and the bathroom should definately have had a real scrubdown.
One little detail: A couple of days before we left for Beijing, the hotel sent us an email with the hotel address in Chinese - Great to show to the taxi driver at the airport.

We stayed in a deluxe room and it was beautifully spacious and comfortable with a huge bathroom, shower and spa bath.
Staff at front counter were more than happy to exchange money for us, and staff in the business centre were very helpful in organising a trip to the Great Wall for us (with a private car and English very knowledgeable speaking guide).
Only downside I would say would be no WiFi in the room itself but was accessible in the lobby. Short walk to Tianamen and to shopping mall.
Also has lovely rooftop garden/sitting area we would have definitely spent more time in if it wasn't winter!

We booked this room thru a web site at a pretty good rate & weren't disappointed. Didn't include breakfast & we didn't try it out so can't comment there, but agree with other reviewers that the room temperatures run warm. In December we had opened the windows to get it nice and cool, then with the blower off & the outer window closed (there are two windows, helps with sound insulation) the room was just right for us overnight.

Other than that, the location was great - close to the #1 subway line, WangFuJing shopping street, and Tiananmen Square. The business office person booked us tickets to see the Jinshang Acrobatics show then helped us get a cab there, good service. Front desk has pretty good English, no hassles there. They were also able to get us a cab when we checked out.

Couple tips - small shop north of the hotel sells fruit, gotta love those little mandarin oranges! If you exit the hotel & turn left down the alley, you'll be right at Wangfujing street. The night market allery is close by, fun to shop & look there. Across the street is a "Niu Ge" dumpling restaurant - they have breakfast if you're there before 9:30 or so, otherwise their food was good & prices reasonable.

One more thing...when we exited the hotel & started walking to the Forbidden City, a local artist put the mark on us & kept at us until we went to his shop...his "best work, took me a month" started at 2500RMB per panel, finally relented at 300RMB each for two panels...it's OK work but if you're in the same situation, hate to do it but Just Say No. The guy was friendly enough with very good English, but incredibly persistent, it was for that we finally gave in.
