My group enjoyed our stay here. It was easy to get to from the airport using mass transit. Rooms were clean with plenty of outlets and space and were cleaned daily. It is close to the Forbidden City and the Wangfujing shopping street and subway stop. Would recommend to travelers who are on a budget but don't want to do a hostel.

location is good , just 5 mins walk from tiannamen square. also has a large food market and pedestrianised shopping street just behind it.

room was basic and clean and staff were helpful when needed. as is custom in china the beds are rock hard

breakfast was laughable, everything was cold, toasters were dangerous and the only juice available was boiling hot orange concentrate from a machine.

unless you get cheap deal, dont bother

This hotel had a decent location. Near to some tourist sites but about 10 minute walk to any restaurants. Rooms are not as clean as in the pictures- beds and towels are clean, but floors could use a scrub. The walls were totally scuffed up and the hotel smelled like smoke a lot of the time. That said, its pretty cheap rates, for Beijing, I guess.

Very good location. Reception staff rather abrupt and unhelpful. Room comfortable but like all other Chinese hotels, even if the areas are "non smoking" , everything reeks of cigarette smoke as visitors smoke everywhere.
Basic breakfast, more Chinese food than western. Stick to toast and jam. Coffee n tea available.
Excellent massage place right across the road, clean and hygienic. The masseuse cured me of my frozen shoulder! Had to leave the hotel as it was fully booked.

Conviently situated for Wangfunjin street, forbidden city and subway. Hotel not easy to find on street for taxi. Reception speak broken English enough to book you in. Rooms adequate bed is hard but they all are in china, extra quilt in cupboard we used as a mattress topper. Free coffee/tea facilities and free water. Didn't use on site restaurant. Used in site tour operator. Speaks good English. Tours are reasonably priced, booked the Great Wall and airport transfer. Very reliable. Would recommend as a budget hotel. I wouldn't go back as I wouldn't go back to beijing as I hated it.

Our taxi driver had trouble locating the hotel at first due to the tree-lined Nanheyan Street, which blocked the signboard. When we did find the entrance, we had a good laugh.

Check-in was swift. The usual key deposit needs to be paid. But due to an incident at the nearby Tiananmen Square a couple of days before we arrived, we had to let the hotel's security inspect our luggage and backpacks. They were pretty strict as well. Though we were tired, it was reassuring that the hotel took security seriously.

With the reception on the ground floor (1st floor in Chinese terms), the guest rooms are all located on the upper floors. The hotel's structure may not look new but the rooms are certainly cozy. Hot shower, essential toiletries, tea bags, electric kettle, hangers, bottled water, TV, slippers. The bed and pillows are comfortable as well.

The hotel's WiFi internet access is fantastic. Very stable and reasonable speed. To register, you would need to enter your passport number, which has already been registered when you checked in. One thing about this is each device per passport. I'm not sure if you can request for more devices per passport at the reception.

The Spread at the buffet breakfast line is rather limited but decent. According to the kitchen staff, the dishes are different everyday.

Nanheyan Street is a rather quiet street with many convenience stores and some eateries selling local delicacies. Things at the convenience stores are rather expensive. Despite of that, they are pretty well equipped.

Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City is very accessible from the hotel as they are just a stone's throw away, about 10-15 minutes walk. These attractions are to the right of Chang'an Avenue and Nanheyan Street. Whereas, to the left, about 8 minutes walk, you will arrive at Wangfujing. That is also where you can access the underground subway. Take note that the subway may not be as disabled friendly as you wish it would be. There are no elevators for starters.

I would certainly return to Citytel Inn the next time I pop by Beijing. Reasonably priced and comfortable. The reception staff are very helpful as well.

Room Tip: Rooms that are nearer to the working elevator are mostly twin rooms. Double rooms are a short walk a...

We took a cab to Citytel Inn - the location wasn't easy for the driver to find. We got into the hotel around 2AM and found the check-in process quite easy. However, it's the first time that I saw a hotel that would require security check on the guest's luggage (not a mere scan from the outside, but you have to open your luggage for them to check what's inside - this is an unnecessary step and is disrespectful of guests in my opinion)

Nonetheless, once you find the hotel location, it's quite convenient - just a 10-minute walk to Tiananmen East MRT station. You can also walk to Wangfujing Shopping District. Room amenities are ok - they even have guest slippers (not provided by other relatively inexpensive hotels). Complimentary bottled water and tea are also provided. You can even refill your water bottles in the lobby.

Wifi could be a bit erratic. Sometimes, you are able to log-in and sometimes it won't work.

Overall, it's a good stay. I wouldn't mind staying at Citytel Inn again should future travel brings me back to Beijing.
