“overrated”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2011

I had the steak and eggs here a few years ago while spending a summer in Beijing. This place is totally overrated (by the owner). The steak was a sorry piece of meat and the eggs were just ok. Paul, the owner, was there and he kept going on and on about how great his steak and eggs were and how they were the best in town and how all of his food is the greatest American diner food in the city. I kept on thinking, "man, shut up and let your food speak for itself." The food spoke and I was unimpressed.

“Ok if the boss is there”

The first time I went was when the owner was there. It was fast and the food was good. The owner let us hold his birds and he discussed Florida with us. When he wasn't there the food took a long time to come and it wasn't as good. Very nice people though

“Ideal American Food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2010

This restaurant doesn't claim to be anything fancy. It is basically an American diner or what we call a "coney island" in Michigan. The service is friendly and speedy. Great place to cure your hangovers especially if you like American breakfast food like omelets, toast, home fries, etc. They also have a great selection of wines for cheap!

“Lots of unwarranted hype”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2010

As a former sous chef I can offer my own opinion and comments. The prices are "cheap" to expats since they usually compare the exchange rate but if value and quality for what you pay, then this place is not quite up to standards. The portions are small and in some cases, quite bland. It is noted that Paul is a chef but it appears quality control is not adhered to. Many of the items could be better if monitored regularly. The rule of thumb in the kitchen is to taste three times before serving. Obviously this rule has not been taught to the cooks in the back.
