The entrance is a little difficult to find but once you've got a table you're in for a treat. There is no menu. The chef prepares 6-8 dishes each evening using the ingredients he considers best for that particular day. Every dish was just great! Book a table because it fills up quite fast.

A little hard to find - but well worth the adventure wondering on foot in the Hutongs. Look out for the lighted Dali sign down a side alley! Beautiful setting in a Hutong courtyard. Set menu - absolutely DELISHIOUS Yunnan cuisine. Honestly some of the best food we have ever tasted, made all the more exciting as you just don't know what might be coming to your table and your taste buds next! Nice wine list - thank you very much for the complimentary drinks!

The food was very good at a great price. The no menu style was exciting because we didn't quite know what we would get. All the food was delicious. Lovely courtyard setting. My only wish is they had a website with directions. It took 1 hours to find but basically you find the lane on the quiet side of the street. Look for the lantern on the left and turn left down another lane. Google maps prior. I suggest you book too.

The food and ambience were first class. High in taste and surprise. I didn't know what the set up was when I arrived and foolishly asked for a menu! The only curious thing was that I was in a group of three and the gentlemen sat on his own at the table next to us had the same quantity of food as us. Not sure why..?

I had dinner at Dali Courtyard in May 2014. It was just warm enough to enjoy the evening in the courtyard by candlelight, under the smoggy sky of Beijing and inside a Hutong.

The experience was nice, with friendly staff, attentive to any allergies.
As previously reported, the restaurant serves a set-menu, changing every day. On my day of visit, we got 7 dishes : tofu noodles, salad with beans, mushrooms, pork chops, asparagus, fish and chicken. The dishes are small in size (apart from fish) and have different degrees of spices (although reasonable).

The food was good, not the best ever. Combined with the atmosphere, it makes for a very nice experience.

I think the owners are trying to cash in on their popularity with foreigners (only a couple of locals on our day of visit). The set menu is now ¥150 pp.

Recommended for a nice time in Hutong at night.
