The hostel is cozy and has a really nice atmosphere in the lobby and cafe. However
1. The toilet was unbelievably dirty and not cleaned until we warned them to do so which was at least 24h after we arrived..
2. The four of us made one reservation for a four-bed bedroom, but we were placed in a six-bed bedroom, two in one room, one in another room and the fourth in yet another room.
3. The staff understands very little English. If you encounter any kind of a complex problem or have a more complex question (like „What does the tour include?“), there is a good chance you will leave the front desk without the problem being solved, but you being tired of explaining. There was one girl however, who worked at the front desk on the day we left, who spoke English very well and was very very helpful.

The location is quite good ( metro is 5min walking) but close to the hostel there are working in progress for metro so it's a mess!!!! Crazy traffic all the day!!!
Resturants & bars are closed.

The hostel stuff was not so nice during the check in. They were so confused and unkind.
There were three of us: 2 in a twin room and 1 in a dormitory.

In the twin room it was awful we couldn't sleep there because it was infested with cockroaches (very big cockroaches)!!!!! It was horrible!! The receptionist at the beginning gave us "RAID" to kill them but they were so many so we asked to change room. She assigned us another room quite better but it was 3 a.m ( we had to wake up at 5 to go to the great wall!! we were so unluky!! )

In the dormitory there weren't any problems.

At the check out nobody apologized for what happened.
It seemed that nothing happened.

The hostel quality is very bad so we wouldn't recommend it to anybody!! You can find a better one at least without cockroaches!!!!!

Enjoy your stay!!!!

Ps. I took some pictures of dead cockroaches, but I don't want to be rude!!

Pros:

Great location: close to a subway stop, walking distance to bars, shopping, hutong, Drum Tower. Easy transit via subway or taxi to sites like Forbidden City.

Incredible staff: speak great English, friendly, helpful. Spent 2 hours with us helping us plan and book travels – hostels, trains, planes, and buses – to other parts of China.

Clean and quiet rooms. We had a triple with our own bathroom. The staff came every day to empty the trash; towels and sheets were changed every few days.

Free wifi

Cons: can’t think of anything major.

My favorite place we stayed in China.

Me and a friend got a double room with en-suite for a week and paid £50 each (500 yuan) and it was so worth it! Was expecting it to be much worse but we were pleasantly suprised. Shower is abit annoying as it is just a shower head in the bathroom with no cubicle or curtain so the whole bathroom floods. Everything else good. Maids come everyday to empty bins and change bedding every few days. Staff go out of their way to help you and communal space downstairs had a nice atmosphere. Perfect for backpackers.

I had stayed at the hotel a few years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, something has happened. The 4 public computers were down to 2, and often they were not working or occupied. The room no longer supplied soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. Had to ask for more tp. Noisier than before. The wonderful roof area is no longer for the public, except to hang wash to dry. Our bathroom locked us out, so we could not enter the empty room. The staff was quite helpful on each occasion, but there should not have been so many problems. There were no hooks to hang clothing. The location is excellent, but the hotel was in much better shape 2 years ago.

I found the hotel location is near to Beijing Metro Station.
But the budget room is in the basement, no window, low roof but quite big bed for one person. The hotel give free internet access at the loby and the provide two computer for public use (if U don't bring your own computer).
The food at the hotel is self service, not too bad but not delicious either.
