Rooms have been nicely touched up with major update carpet or gone for floating floor. Restaurant is greatly improved. Price + location a BIG plus! Only drawback that keen & helpful front office staff have little English. If there is a problem ask for katy frp. Sales Deparment who was top Harmany Hotel front office sub manager who has definitely okay English.

Room Tip: Give it a go.

HARMONY HOTEL – We stayed here at the start of an Intreid tour. Tired 3 star hotel but clean. Staff very good. Rooms as you would expect in China, not large with very firm beds, but in good location, right near Beijing train station. 5 min walk to Henderson mall with supermarket in basement. Plenty of places to eat in the mall. Good for walking to Tiannemen Square and Forbidden City. Food stalls in the side street near hotel, be careful. Mcdonalds just over the road and mini mart on corner. Ask for a taxi card as hotel is in a side street and difficult to find.

I was very much disappointed to find out that the great *** Harmony Hotel in Beijing closed down on 30Jun2012. Then I was expecting it to re-open greater than even it was before. Moreover the location was ideally central to transport + much more. However after speaking with an ex senior staff member yesterday I now know it has gone forever! Evidently the property owners have taken back the site to redevelop for their own purposes. This is not good news for us long term clients and MOST importantly for all their great staff from friendly efficient concierges, ever tremendous front office staff, terrific domestic people and ever obliging maintenance engineers who were always happy to do anything and everything including repairing client bags. I can only wish the very best for all these lovely Harmony Hotel staff.

Room Tip: For those who stayed there jut be thankful.

The hotel is no glamour, but the location, and the quality of the food and the energy of the local area is first class.

Hotel is basic, but clean and a reasonable price. Good for exploring the city - not far to forbidden city etc, close to railway station. Restaurants & shopping centres within 10-15 minutes walk, mini mart across the road. Had a great stay, usual Chinese firm but comfy beds. Chinese & western breakfast options. Definitely value for money & good location. Make sure you get a card with hotel address for help getting back in case you get lost - Chinese taxi drivers do not speak English. Bottled water provided each day (don't drink the tap water).

Free wi-fi, close to train station. About 140 Yuan in taxi from airport. Very basic, but suitable when on the move. Money exchange in hotel - bit of a grumpy women running it. Tour service available on second floor - very good.

Hotel is very basic, but clean and well maintained, reasonable priced with internet. Great for exploring the city, close to railway station and main Post office with some food stores and restaurants nearby, around 20-30 minutes walk to the Forbidden City and around 20 minutes to a huge modern shopping center. Hotel has a restaurant downstairs - tried only broccoli with some wacky sauce but it was fantastic! lot's of other restaurants close by or some distance from the hotel. Traveling by cab is great fun - I loved it!, very inexpensive, drivers don't speak any English so ask in a hotel to write down your destination/s on a piece of paper, never seen cars like that in my life, driver keeps talking to you in Chinese but who cares, basically it's a big mess but like I said before I loved it. Beijing is very safe for foreign visitors - severe punishments for robbing/assaulting any foreign tourist. Staff in a hotel very helpful, English no problem, rooms cleaned daily, decent bathroom. Overall great stay, comfy beds, had a good night sleep. Would recommend this hotel to anybody interested more in sightseeing and exploring the city rather then staying in a luxury 5* hotel and paying top dollar for it. Chose this hotel because of close proximity to the Forbidden City and value.
