Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall

We were greeted warmly by the front desk staff and upgraded to the Executive Suite upon giving my Marriott rewards number. I traveled with my 17 year old daughter so the two full sized beds were greatly appreciated. The room had plenty of space, with two cute leather chairs and a desk by the window. The bathroom was a nice size as well and included a tub separate from the shower stall (which has two shower heads with mega water pressure) and in-wall speakers that allowed you to hear the tv in the room and you could view it through the window from the bathtub. Another cool bathroom feature was the electronic wooden blinds located over the bathtub. So, if you don't want to watch TV from the tub you could draw the blinds for privacy. There were nothing but hotels in the immediate area, but if you walk out of the hotel onto the main road, make a left and walk a few blocks down there is a railway station surrounded by small stores a small mall and fastfood restaurants galore. The subway was approximately four blocks away from the hotel, and the buffet breakfast was good but not great. Additionally, most of the staff spoke pretty good English and seemed eager to help when needed. This hotel and the Great Wall were the only highlights of my trip to Beijing. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

First time in China, decided to stay in an international hotel before branching out. After an hour long, US$15 taxi ride from the airport, ended up here. Very nice staff. Most could speak English well enough, which I found out later isn't that true of China. Rooms and hotel environment was as you would expect in a US Marriott. Was told by friends not to drink the tap water, but I did and nothing happened. Nearby, a beautiful walk along the grassy, tree lined City Wall - thought I was in the US Midwest, not "Communist China". Clean safe and perfect after a long flight. Fun walk into "real" China right around the corner - Beijing Train Station and Bus Station right behind hotel. Lots of shopping and quick food and grocery stores nearby. Good stay! Slight surprise. Room wifi is okay, not great. Ask for Marriott Rewards membership to get it free. But the country blocks all Google (search, gmail, Play Market), Facebook and Dropbox. Load up on a VPN (I like pandapow) before you come if you need to access those. Yahoo is not blocked. Bing becomes your default search.

I enjoyed my stay at this property. It has a great location, excellent facilities and attentive staff. The Club Lounge is quite large and served an excellent breakfast and evening snacks and desserts. I will definitely be staying at this property on my next trip to Beijing.

I'll admit - I love marriotts and am a little biased. But this one is superb. Great location, wonderful facilities, and amazing staff. My one and only complaint is that I couldn't get wine by the glass in their signature restaurant - it was a bottle or nothing. Marriott, really?? But otherwise wonderful!

We spent four days at this property in Beijing prior to embarking on an Asian port and cross the Pacific cruise to Alaska. Rooms are beautiful, food service is superb and hotel amenities are wonderful. Staff are so accommodating and very helpful. This is a must stay if you are in Beijing.

Its a good hotel with the price that you are paying. Room is clean but breakfast could have been better with freshly squeezed juices which some Marriott has. Gym is big and quite equipped which is a plus point.

Its about 10 mins walk to the JianGuoMen metro Station (Line 1). If you have luggage, then it will be tougher as the roads are fairly uneven. From this station, its quite centralised to get anywhere.

You can also walk to the Beijing railway station (walking to metro to take 1 stop is almost equivalent to walking 1 stop).

For wifi, free for members which you can sign up anytime. This applies to all Marriott chains.

Room Tip: If you are a super light sleeper, request for a room that is Not facing the railway.

Flew in and out of Beijing so I had 2 stays here. The short 2-3 minute walk to the Line 1 & 2 metro station made it very convenient to tour Beijing: The Chinese Palace (3 stops west on line 1), the Olympic Sports Centre (a few stops north on L2 - then L5 - then Olympic spur), and to Yashow Market and the Workers' Stadium (3 stops north on Line 2). Next to main Beijing Railway & 2nd Ring Rd. Gray Line tours at concierge. Good restaurants on-site. English speaking staff is #1. Quite interesting landmark immediately west of the main entrance is part of the old Beijing City Wall standing 10+ meters next to the car and taxi entrance. 3rd floor indoor pool and LARGE exercise area is larger than most. 24 hour convenience shop on-site. Large lobby bar! If you can, opt for the upper floor concierge lounge where the staff will take care of all you business & travel needs.

Room Tip: upper floors give good city views except for NORTH facing rooms toward office building.
