“Great but still got room for improvement”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2011

It was a pleasant stay with Marriott - China Beijing. It was a tour with a tour agency. First room given was at level 15079 and second was 06049(to my best memory). We were rather pleased the room- huge, clean and spacious esp we have a Ipod charger stand/alarm but was then disappoint when we stayed at level 6, there's none. We call the counter and inform- to my understanding from the service staff that all rooms suppose to have one except for rooms at level 6. Hence, it's quite disppointing.

The breakfast served was good but there arent much changes. We had almost the same food for the 7 days. I do understand that each different countries have there own concerns for importing raw ingredient. But here, i do not ask for much. I like to see changes in terms of different ways of cooking methods- example-Monday- fried rice with egg, Tuesday- Fried Noodle with Cabbage Wed- Fried rice with chicken Thursday - Fried noodle with shreded egg ....etc..

Also, I like to comment on the Spa and swimming with Steambath- totally disappointed. I really do not understand how they maintain? The pool is dirty. The Swirl pool's TV is not on and we can't even find a service staff in the area. There's no instruction/guidance for getting towel or getting to the locker.I took almost 10 minutes to find the locker. Some guests came into the steambath with their clothes on.

Overall, it;'s still good and i will come back. i like to see improvement.

We had two nights here in March as part of a group visiting on business. The hotel was very comfortable and seemed to have everything we needed.

Check in was unfortunately very slow - we were put in a group room and one by one they brought in the keys for us but it seemed to take forever. They knew we were on our way yet were not ready for us when we arrived.

Rooms quite plush and very comfortable.

Pearl Chinese Restaurant was absolutely divine. The food was amazing. We ate there twice it was so good!

The Lounge was a great meeting spot for cocktails on our way out in the evenings.

City Wall Bistro - not much to say other than it was a typical big hotel buffet restaurant where we had breakfast each day. Buffet selection good.

Overall a good hotel!

Went on an escorted tour for the first time in my life (I usually make my own arrangements), so didn't know what to expect. This hotel was just lovely, and in a very convenient location. The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The lobby was comfortable, with free wi-fi. The breakfast buffet was huge and varied. I didn't use the gym or pool, but others in our party said they were great. I would definitely come back.

After the long flight to China there is nothing like sinking into the comfort of a nice hotel.

The rooms are excellent, quiet, roomy, clean and well laid out. Service was excellent. The neighborhood around the hotel offered some fun photography and good eats.

Room Tip: Book on-line.

The location is about 5 minutes walk from the Beijing Railway Subway stop.
We arrived and checked in.
Check in wasn't good as there was people everywhere. The concierge staff were wonderful and set me up with a good Great Wall tour.
Room was large for China with large double beds and big bathroom.
Only complaints were the check in, the door handle was broken, and the shower wouldn't fully drain.
The handle was fixed but the drain was still clogged.
The pool and fitness center were very nice.
We also ordered room service but there was a language barrier and only received one meal and then another.
Besides the small few problems, we would return to the largest Marriott outside of the USA.
Subway times: 10 Minutes to Tienanmen Square, Silk Market
Cab ride to airport: 102 Yuan

The location makes the hotel. It is close to the central cultural sites (Forbideden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, etc) It is also near its namesake, the old Beijing City Wall (not much to see really). The hotel is absolutely gigantic. Marriott bills it as the largest Marriott outside of the US. For all of its size, there is not really a lot going on in the restaurants and bars in the hotel. The rooms are large and well appointed, in line with nice Western hotels in China. As a Marriott elite member, I was allowed to bypass the check in desks (i.e. lines) and given a room upgrade. All in all, a nice hotel in a good location, but not a stand out in the market.

Room Tip: Be a Marriott elite member (gold or above)

Right from the get go the staff was very courteous and friendly. They upgraded our rooms for free since our rooms were given away & we got suites. The hotel has great restaurants. The location is perfect since its walking distance from Beijing train station & also from major landmarks like Tianamen square. The hotel is kept very clean and has easy access to public transport. We were an extended family with older people and kids going on this trip and the hotel staff arranged for our private tours with guides. I will highly recommend everyone to stay here.

Room Tip: Suites are massive and very very nice
