I only stayed here for one night after a late night arrival into Beijing but I wasn't particularly impressed with the hotel. As others have mentioned, the rooms are smelly but they are very roomy. The beds were comfortable and the service was good. The breakfast was minimal for what I have come to expect of better Chinese hotels. I'm not sure I would stay here again.

Stayed 5 nights in Jianguo Hotel. Hotel is OK. Rooms are stinking and very dark.
Internet is not working in room or in lobby (open connection). A.c Need servicing
Location is great. Very close to subway station and silk market and also lots lots of eateries around. Concierge is good but rooms are bit small and dark. Breakfast is nice with lots of varieties. Don’t miss their special grapefruit and honey teas in café…simply amazing…

Not on my radar for next Beijing trip.

Travelling with my partner, we stayed here for 3nights. Location is perfect for restaurants, public transport and the silk market us 300mtrs away! Complimentary bottles of water, free wifi in rooms & plate of fruit on arrival. Check in was faultless. We stayed in business rooms, (can't remember floor) evening snacks and drinks provided complimentary on this floor which was nice treat. We stayed in room to rear of hotel, very quiet, no noise issues. Rooms spacious, bathrooms had all necessities. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Drinks expensive in lounge. Oh, beware of 'cocktails', they are not a cocktail as we know them in Ireland!! Overall great location & staff very helpful. Would stay here again.

I really liked this hotel. We stayed here with our two children aged 8 and 6. We initially were disappointed with the "suite " we were given on the executive floor which was on a split level but really did not have much room for the children to sleep. We were then given a different suite all on one level ( 491) which was frankly excellent. It was really two quite large rooms connected to make a suite. The furnishings were of a high quality and the room was very clean. The hotel put in the paid for additional bed and the eldest child slept on the large sofa.

With possible crisis averted we then spent six very happy nights here. The primary benefit of this hotel is its location, It is quite centrally located , its 50m from the underground and in a large shopping area with a number of restaurants near by. It also had the usual fast food outlets if that appeals.

We ate a couple of times in the hotel and had breakfast all of which was very agreeable if not spectacular. There is also the "happy hour" as we were on the executive floor and whilst again all very acceptable it did not really feel like the place for younger children,

The pool was OK if a little tired. It was mainly empty when we visited, which was most days, after a day of sightseeing. The temperature of the pool was a little on the cool side.

Staff were all very helpful and attentive and I felt my family were valued.

My Dad and I stayed here on a tour we did with the company China Spree. Before arriving, we were not sure how the accommodations would be considering how incredibly cheap the entire tour package was. Boy, were we ever shocked! This hotel was FAN-TAS-TIC.

We arrived to the hotel ultra early - about 7am. The question on our minds was whether we could check in so early. On one hand, after a long flight, we didn't want to keep walking around to kill time, but on the other hand, did not want to pay for an entire extra hotel day. Sure enough, the great staff at the hotel allowed us to check in at 7am!

The surrounding area is EXCELLENT. This hotel is located next to a tonne of great restaurants and shopping. It is definitely a touristy area but all the better for options. The excellent subway system is literally connected to the hotel and the Silk Market, which is amazing for shopping (especially if you're looking for knock-offs), is just one block away. You can literally walk to everything to get anywhere.

Our room was very clean and new when we walked in. Everything has been generously updated and we were greeted with a fresh plate of fruit as well as bottles of water which came included. The bathroom was spacious and had a cool double sided mirror which you could turn on and off with a switch ( meaning you could make it a mirror or two way glass at the flick of a switch ). Beds were very comfortable. Although our room faced the busy street, it was still quiet. We were happy with the room, and the free internet helped as I was able to connect my phone to the internet and make free calls back home to the USA.

Breakfast was included. Generous selection of food both Chinese, Japanese (yes, they even had sushi for breakfast), and your typical American fair. The dining area itself was very modern and the servers were very helpful and attentive. Definitely felt like a 5 star hotel, mind you, most 5 star hotels nickle and dime you on everything including internet, yet this one did not do that. I will never understand why 5 star hotels charge $20 per day for internet when Motel 6s include it for free, but that is the subject of a different post altogether.

All in all, we were super satisfied. On a sidenote, when I went next door to the silk market late one night at closing, I ran into Adrien Brody, the famous actor, of all people. Who would have other thought a famous actor would be buying fakes, but he's probably smart for wanting to save a few bucks!

Great hotel, staff, and amazing location. Wondering whether to stay here? DO IT! You won't regret it.

Room Tip: As it is facing a main street, ask for an upper level room.

The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but what's inside is what counts--and this hotel has everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. It also has a nice little secret: small, but beautiful gardens in courtyards that have guest rooms on one side and hotel common areas and restaurants on the other.

As my bus approached the hotel, the faded yellow color of the exterior that the smoggy Beijing air had not treated nicely, and the overall appearance of being an apartment building with businesses on the first floor, had me wondering what my travel representative had gotten me into. Thankfully, my concerns were immediately put to rest when I entered the bright and welcoming lobby area and my check-in was handled efficiently and professionally by people who were genuinely glad to have my wife and I as their guests. We were immediately shown to our room, which was clean attractive, and well-appointed, though the main living space was a little cramped due to the layout of the room.

The room is clearly divided into two parts: the entry and the living space. The entry area consisted of a good-sized closet and an alcove with the refrigerator, mini-bar and an electric kettle for boiling water were on one side, and the entrance to the large bathroom was to the right. There was a decent amount of unused space immediately inside the door that could be used for storing luggage. This space would have been better used to open up the living area a bit.

Passing through the entry area, you enter the living space. The living space was dominated by the king bed flanked by night stands, and the furniture was all of good quality and in good condition. Along the walls were a glass-top desk with chair, a dresser with the drawers tastefully hidden behind doors and topped with a large flat screen TV, a luggage stand that was a nice piece of furniture with enclosed storage underneath (much nicer than the usual folding stand you find), and the heat/AC unit (which was enclosed with a wood shroud to look like a piece of furniture--nice touch). An armchair with ottoman and a small round glass-topped table rested near the sliding glass doors that opened into a small, private patio.

The small size of the living space became really noticeable when we ordered room service. The ottoman had to be pressed into service as a chair, and between the desk and the little glass-topped table, we made space for everything. The second round of room service was brought to us on a trolly, which, although it made things crowded, also made eating easier and more enjoyable. The food, by the way, was good and arrived within 30 minutes each time.

We only ate at the buffet restaurant because the Chinese restaurant was closed due to the our stay coming right at the end, and highlight, of the Chinese New Year celebration, and the French restaurant didn't have vegetarian dishes available on the night we wanted to try it out (it was Valentine's Day and the hotel restaurants had special offerings that didn't have much that vegetarians could make a meal out of). The broad selection of Chinese and western dishes made it easy for us vegetarians to sample many wonderful dishes and walk away satisfied every time.

The staff was great. They knew English well enough to ensure our stay went smoothly. They were kind and very professional, as befitting what appears to be a hotel that catered to business travelers (the hotel is in the Central Business District of Beijing), but the hotel is a fine choice for leisure travel, too. I have one little quibble, and that is that the lobby isn't fully open 24 hours. Someone is on duty, but the lights are out except over the reception desk. When more people are needed, as when my travel group had to depart early for the airport, additional people were quickly summoned to ensure everybody was checked out in a timely manner.

The hotel is in a great location. In addition to being in the Central Business District of Beijing, it is a short walk from several restaurants and a subway station.

Room Tip: Garden rooms have great views, but you have to be careful privacy-wise because the gardens are publi...

Room 545 faced the street and there was some noise, but not too bad. Room was large size and included safe, toiletries (shampoo, lotion, conditioner, soap, shower cap, comb, toothbrush). Shower had 2 heads, strong hand shower, but pressure on overhead one a bit weak. TV had CNN, BBC, HBO, SHOW and a few other English stations. Wifi worked ok, no password needed. A few steps from metro and only 5 stops from Tienamen Square (or can walk in about 40 minutes). Breakfast in café was buffet and starts a 6AM- about 156 RMB and was extra. OK selection of Western and Asian dishes.

Room Tip: try to avoid street view as it gets noisy
