When my wife and I (30 & 32 yo), arrived at the hotel, we thought the room looked fine. We were disappointed by the lack of wi-fi, but not a huge deal. On our second day, after returning to our first "cleaned room", it reeked of cigarette smoke. It was very clear that someone had been smoking in our room. After our third day, we had asked for more toilet paper and were told no. Is it not reasonable for 2 people in a foreign land to go through 1 roll of toilet paper in 3 days? On our fifth day, we asked the reception to order us a taxi for the airport for the next morning- long story short, this simple request required several hours and a pay-in-advance. Needless to say, despite my anxiety and insistence that the taxi driver arrive on time, he arrived 20 min late and the hotel did not help us out at all. In short, the service at the hotel was terrible, and the hotel was not very clean either. In addition, do not expect ANYONE to speak any English. I am a well-traveled individual, who is non-fussy and easily gets along with others, but they appeared to almost go out of their way to NOT understand. As white people, we felt that we were looked down upon. Location is difficult to arrive at because it is fairly far from the subway. I do not recommend this hotel.

When we arrived at the reception there was no reservation for us. After some time cheking our reservation number we got a room. The rooms are spacious and clean. A good hotel for your Beijing trip.

My family spent 4 nights at the Tailong Plaza in August 2012. We paid cash instead of credit card. Staff were friendly. We had two comfortable rooms - huge washroom and shower. (The bedroom and shower are separated by translucent glass!) Bath robes provided. Beds are hard (as were the other hotel beds in China!) Walking distance to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. Shopping street behind the hotel with great restaurants (take escalator upstairs to Muslim restaurant on the left side). We ate in local restaurants but if you want, KFC is across the road and McDonalds is a short walk behind the hotel. Convenience store in lobby and 7-11 next door. We had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first night. Make sure you order the shrimp puffs. The Western/Chinese breakfast buffet was large. Toast, fried eggs, bacon and an assortment of fresh fruit, pastries, breads and Chinese dishes. Instead of using the tour company inside the front door of the hotel we found a better tour deal through the hotel for the Great Wall. The hotel staff helped us arrange to hire a taxi and tour guide for the day. We made side trips to a Jade factory and a silk factory (both of which I am sure our tour guide got a commission.) The silk factory was a sales pitch so I would pass on that one. Be prepared for the tour guide to ask for a tip at the end of the day!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard room because our one room overlooking the street was noisy.

The hotel is located in Qian Men district, just a few steps away from the Qian Men street which a lot of stores. You can walk to Tian An Men (Gate of heavenly peace) square. The room is clean with modern decoration. But for some reason, I did not have good sleep there. And the breakfast taste very bad.

A good hotel located near the Forbidden City and Qiamen shopping, but there are many drawbacks: the staff speak very little English, which made it quiet difficult at times, especially when we arrived late at night and they had no record of our prepaid reservation! They were all very friendly and tried their best to help. The rooms are very large, and the bathrooms are spacious with plenty of complimentary toiletries. I don't think housekeeping cleans the rooms, they just make the bed, and replace towels that are not on the rack. Also we had to ask for a carpet vacuum when we arrived because there were huge dustballs. Breakfast is a good deal (about $6 USD pp) but it's basically dim sum, and the sanitation of the dining room is questionable. I wouldn't pay more than what we did ($44 USD).

The hotel is clean enough and the breakfast is ok. Rooms are spacious. Location is great - 15 minutes to Tyananmen', means about 20 to the Gugun gates.Very nice walking and dining area right around the corner.
However rooms are not very well maintained - see photos.
The wall between the room and bathroom is half-glass - not everybody would appreciate that.
Take only NON-smoking rooms. Neighbours in smoking area are smoking a lot with open doors and the corridor and your room will be smelling.
