Hostel with comfortable beds and A/C is in a nice location about 1km south of Tiananmen Sq. The area has a nice upbeat feel and is a short walk to a metro stop. It has a bar/restaurant on site that serves cheap beer and nice food. I'd highly recommend this place.

This 365 is in the south of town, in a small street in a hutong area, close to Tiananmen and Forbidden City. It is far from other backpacker areas such as Sanlitun. The metro is 8 mins away. This part of town is very dusty and dirty (aka authentic Beijing).
The hostel itself is quite social. There is a bar/restaurant that you walk through to get to the front desk. The staff is either incredibly nice and helpful or incredibly useless - both extremes. The coffee at the bar is quite delicious. The bar is open as late as the patrons require at night.
The rooms are basic but clean. I had a double private room which was just big enough to walk around the two beds, but became quite cramped when suitcases were involved. The shower is part of the bathroom which means the entire thing gets flooded as soon as you start to shower. I also stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm which was quite standard: bunks, lockers. Public showers were fine, but nothing exceptional. Overall, I would say this is a standard hostel. Nothing exceptional. Given that I don't know what other hostels in Beijing look like, it may be one of the best...

Great location. Close to good food, massage, shopping and tourist sites like Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

Booked this after reading all the reviews in TripAdvisor and must say that we did not regret it. We were staying in a beautiful hotel provided by our tour agent but out of the city when we first arrived. During our booking, we were told that we could extend our stay in that hotel but I am glad we did not. Like any typical hotel, there is no atmosphere there at all.

This was our first backpacker's hotel and the atmosphere was great. Staff was very helpful and food was good. We thought it would be noisy when we first saw the location but we were surprised with how quiet it was in the rooms.

Room was a bit small (we had big luggages) but everything worked fine. It was clean and hot showers and air con was good.

Food in the restaurant was good as well. Good breakfast selections. Loved the dumplings.

Only problem we had was when we were leaving for the railway station. Took us almost half an hour to get a taxi from the main road and we had to pay almost 5 times the normal price!!

Pros:
+ Rooms are finished well with good sized wooden cupboards to hold large rucksacks, air-con for summer, radiator for winter and wifi throughout.
+ Very clean bathroom with a fantastic shower.
+ The bar is downstairs and does good, cheap food (We stayed on the first floor near the stairs and didn't hear any noise either).

Cons:
- No protected shelves in the showers to keep your clothes dry.
- Room keycards aren't too reliable.
- The wired internet connection is pretty slow.

Location: Very central, and down a bustling hutong only a 20mins walk to Tiananmen Square and 15mins from Qianmen Station (To get to the hostel go out of Exit C, through the underpass on your left and then walk until you get to McDonalds and go down the hutong on your right)

Breakfast: Not included.

I love this hostel. I've stayed there three times now and it's the only hostel I will stay at in Beijing. The atmosphere alone is enough to keep me coming back. Great place to meet foreigners and locals alike. In the heart of Beijing its a short walk to the Forbidden city, Tiananmen square and Qianmen street. If you want to get around its only a 10 min walk to the subway or you can explore the streets all around the hostel. The hostel itself is clean and the workers there are very friendly helping you with any questions or concerns you might have. The hostel is geared more towards a younger crowd who like to have fun. The bar at night is a great place to meet people and the drinks are cheap (30 RMB for 3 liters of beer) If you are looking for a quiet hostel this might not be the best place to go as it can be a little noisy during the night though they staff do their best to make sure the noise doesn't spread to the rooms. All in all this hostel is great and i'd stay here again and again.
