Looking for a low cost, friendly, and clean place to stay in Beijing - this could be it. Located in an area frequented by Chinese (rather than foreign) tourists, this laneway is buzzing seven days and late into the night. Conveniently located a short walk from the Drum and Bell Towers, there are plenty of food options nearby and with a subway station at the end of the laneway. My young daughter and I felt safe walking the area at all times of the day and night. Be brave and venture off the main alleyway and explore the smaller hutongs, and buy your dinner from a 'hole in the wall' restaurant. Breakfast at the next door cafe is included in the price and is 'western' style eggs, bacon or sausages and toast.
The staff speak English and are very helpful. We organised a pick up from the airport because we arrived late at night, and everything went to plan.
We had a room at the back and it was nice and quiet. Definitely a five star hostel.
If you are travelling on a budget, don't want to stay in a western hotel I'd recommend this place. I'd definitely consider staying here again.More
