What a great hotel! The best in Beijing, for sure. Everything works, staff are very friendly, breakfast is great, excellent location, room is perfect, beautiful swimming pool, good rates and more and more and more... :)

Room Tip: If you book in the hotel website, probably you will find expensive rates, so check in the other webs...

The hotel is ideally located, close to major touristic attraction with the Tian an men square, Wianfujing market street, the forbidden city etc.
The service is good, a really special mention to the bar manager at Flames who has gone the extra mile for us!
We were a bit disappointed by Chynna as the service is really not up to what you would expect for the type of fine dining restaurant.
Overall great experience, the concierge are really helpful and friendly, the management should think of offering free wifi in the rooms and not only public locations.

The hotel was unbelievable. We upgraded to a Lifestyle suite and it was probably the nicest hotel room we have ever stayed in. It was large, very comfortable and had a fabulous bathroom. The hotel staffs were very friendly, spoke excellent English and were very attentive. The restaurants and food were great, especially the breakfast buffet. It had a very nice selection of both western and Chinese food. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square and seemed centrally located for our guide.

This hotel has very nice rooms and is in a fabulous location for tourists however the service leaves much to be desired. The house keeping was without a doubt the worst we have ever experienced and the general staff around the hotel also didn't leave much of an impression. No one would go out of their way to assist you.

It's an ok hotel if you want a nice room and location but for the price one would expect more attentive, caring staff. I would definitely choose elsewhere for my next trip to Beijing. We stayed in July 2012

This is the most difficult review that I have written.

We were guests of the Hilton in May of this year for 4 nights. It was our last stop in China after over 30 days of travel in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China.

We arrived in the evening and were looking forward to settling in and having some dinner. The room was beautiful, probably the nicest we had seen in China and we only stayed at very good hotels, all rated 5 stars. It was also spotlessly clean.

Our modus operandi is always to conduct a check of the room for bed bugs. We noted that the mattress was pristine. In fact, it appeared as if it were new. There were no signs of bug fecal matter but we did see a bug which looked very much like a bed bug walking across the sheets. We captured it in a glass, which we covered, with a view to showing management. Surprisingly, the phone rang moments later, and someone asked us if the room was acceptable. We travel a lot and this has only happened rarely and only when we have at check-in asked for certain amenities, services, etc. We had not done so in this case. My spouse did advise of the problem and management advised they would be up shortly.

When they arrived, we were advised that there had been a problem with bugs in the room, that exterminators had been called in previously, but they acknowledged an ongoing problem.

They said they intended to close down the room and those on either side of it and again bring in exterminators. They apologised and moved us to a much larger room. I inquired as to whether there was problem in that room and was told they didn't think so. We again conducted a check, could see no evidence of fecal matter or bugs, but did again note the pristine mattress, which looked new.

We were cautious, however. The room was on the same floor because we needed to be on a no smoking floor for respiratory health issues. We did have concerns because it is not unusual for a bug problem to spread and the new mattress was a possible red flag. We did not unpack and kept our hard sided suitcases in plastic bug zip encasements that we had brought from Canada in case we ran into a problem. We're so glad that we did.

The room was very well kept and very comfortable. Indeed, all public spaces were lovely and bright and well designed.

We ate breakfast in the hotel every morning. Service was often confused. On one occasion, we went to the buffet only to find that our food had been cleared away, the items we had left to mark and reserve our place had been moved somewhere, and others were seated in our place. The selection of food, although adequate, was probably one of the least varied we encountered. The breakfast room was the most tranquil, however. There was none of the pushing and shoving we had encountered in so many places in China.

We ate at the American steakhouse, Flames Grill, on our first night because it was the only thing open by the time we relocated to our new room . Service was quite nice but the food was quite mediocre. We also ate at Chyna. Again, the service was pleasant but the Beijing/Peking Duck which we had pre-ordered wasn't the best we had in China. In fact, we've had better in our home city.

Bar service in main floor bar was a bit spotty.

To sum up, but for the issue with the bugs, we would have been very happy. The hotel is well located, staff are generally very pleasant, English was widely spoken, and the physical plan and the rooms are quite attractive.

We resented the less than frank disclosure about the bug problem in the room. Although the hotel attempted to compensate us by way of moving us, gifting us a fruit plate, and allowing us free use of the executive lounge area, we wish the hotel had been more candid about the issue. We know even the best hotels have struggled with this issue but we would have appreciated a forthright conversation before we were placed in the room. Finally, we returned home and I was covered in bites in the classic breakfast, lunch, and dinner formation.

I stayed here for work and while the exterior is not that inspirational, inside was a welcome retreat after busy days navigating the city. Perfectly located and close to all the things for a first-timer to Beijing. Service was great and I really appreciated being able to get mojitos delivered to my door.

I was upgraded on arrival and the room was huge - literally larger than my apartment.

Only annoying thing was having to pay extra for internet. But at least it was reliable!

I recently stayed here with my two young daughters, ages 6 and 11. Hotel is in a great location near Forbidden City and Wangfujing shopping area ($20 USD cab ride from airport) and staff is friendly. The room (mainly the bathroom) was not as clean as it should be for a 5 star hotel with the Hilton name. We also used the pool - it has nice comfortable lounge chairs and someone who will bring you towels, but it seemed dirty and they require you to use a swimming cap (sold at about $15 each). Room service was good with some western options for the kids, but very expensive ($20-$30 per entree). Buffet breakfast is good and a bit better value - $50 USD for one adult and 2 kids (you can also get it included with the room for a special price, I think). They charge for wi-fi, which is a turn-off. I would probably try another hotel on the next visit - there is a Hyatt just down the street and a Waldorf Astoria close by that is brand new, I think. I have also found Sofitel and Shangri-la to be excellent chains with free Wi-fi in China.
