Nice hotel , nice food, nice staff, nice room, nice location.
One of the best hotel I have ever stayed. Not much room in the hotel, no in check in desk, you can just sit in the sofa & check in. Lots of architect in the hotel lobby. Just like a modern hotel somewhere in Europe when u come in the opposite house ! The location around is one of famous shopping center in Beijing. For breakfast, there is a cold cut table for buffet , and you can order various from the breakfast.

Even though this hotel is only about 5 blocks from our home, we go here for weekends “away”. It is situated right in the heart of San Li Tun with all of its restaurants, bars and great shopping.

Step in and you won’t find a reception desk – young trendy hotel service people find you sitting on the couch and check you in with their iPads while you have a cup of tea. You feel like a movie-star with such high-class casualness. Up the dark hallways (not dangerous, not scary – just trendy again) to your room which is open, airy and bright even though you are nearly in the center of Beijing.

Our room had a square wooden Japanese bathtub which was amazing – I could have sat in there, sipped sake and read a book or watched TV for ages!

Fabulous restaurants in the hotel as well.

Best thing to do is walk San Li Tun, bar hop, a good night out – but then come back to Opposite House for a nice relaxing drink in “Mesh” and then head upstairs and back to that amazing tub!

We always sleep well, get up and walk downstairs to Village Café for breakfast or have it brought up to your room and eat in front of the floor-to-ceiling picture window. We take our time checking out, have a last cup of tea on the couch downstairs (checked out via iPad again) and then walk home. Perfect Friday night stays for us.

Expensive for China, but worth the splurge.

Room Tip: Studio rooms are great, Creative Space Room is amazing!

On our trip to China we stayed in several 5 star hotels and Opposite House was the best. Design, confort, cleanliness, hotel staff... Everything was perfect! We had booked a 35sq. mt. room. At the check-in (which was fast and efficient) the hotel offered us an upgrade to a 70 sq. mt. room for a fair price (which included breakfast). We decided to upgrade and did not regret. The room was huge, with a clean style, design furniture, electric shades, huge wood bathtub, and nice equipments (denom receiver with ipod connection and etc). Location is another great thing about this hotel. Santilum is and expat neighborhood, full of trendy restaurants, bars and stores. After walking aroud the crowded Beijing city and historical sites, it felt like a big relief to arrive back at the Sanlitum upscale neighbourhood. Highly recommended!

It was a hard decision to take; I wanted to stay at the St. Regis, but opted to listen to a friend's recommendation and stayed at the Opposite House. Keeping in mind that he did not even stay there. I HAVE NO REGRETS AND I AM GLAD I DID !

Although double the price of the Raffles, Ritz, Four Seasons, and St. Regis in Beijing, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY.

The location is great, central, and in the hippest part of Beijing. It is in the middle of "The Village" with tons of restaurants, bars, outings and great "chic" shopping.
The restaurants are great, very crowded with the right "crowd", and well priced, you are really getting your money's worth, and enjoy live music with your meal (even if you are eating solo like I was).

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful; I had taken a bicycle from the hotel to tour Beijing for the day, and when I had a flat tire, the reception staff had me stay still till they delivered a new bike and walked back with the damaged one.

I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK AND RECOMEND THE OPPOSITE HOUSE to anyone going to Beijing.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very modern and well appointed. The hotel is very well located in a pedestrian-only zone. The restaurants are all excellent but very expensive (for chinese standards). The minibar was complementary. Would certainly return!

Beware the taxi drivers in Beijing as they tend to "forget to start" the meter and overcharge.

The Opposite House in Beijing is like no other hotel I have visited. It is ultra modern, arty (they had two giant babies on display when I was there) with some kind of Swedish influence. Upon arrival you first find that there is no real reception but people wandering around with iPads to check you in. The rooms are fantastic. Bright, functional with wooden floors and a wooden bath - which does work believe me. The staff are super helpful and willing to arrange anything you want. If you can afford it get them to arrange a driver for the day to see the sights including the Great Wall. Money well spent for memories you will always have.
