We had a busy evening - so we booked to have our meal at 8:30 pm. And most of the items we wanted to eat were no longer available.

As a consequence we ended up ordering multiple rounds of the dishes they had available.

Also, given its location (near Wangfujing), the staff had very poor language skills.

The dishes we got - they were all cooked in the authentic Cantonese style. And they were delicious.

And while we did try some of the expensive restaurants in town - this one is really much more expensive than you expect for Cantonese cuisine. We have tried it for lunch during an earlier visit - and it gets extremely busy and noisy at lunch - exactly what you expect from a good Cantonese restaurant.

Overall - service was a language struggle, food was delicious, menu was extremely limited at that time.

We dine at Lei Garden twice. The food was pretty good. However, the cannot accommodate 13 person for 1 table. In order to use the individual room, we will have to spend 8000-9000rmb which is ridiculous. Hopefully they will change this.

This is a very elegant restaurant in the best section of Beijing. It did not disappoint. Every dish we enjoyed was incredibly delicate, subtle and incredibly flavorful. The chicken was the absolute most tender and most delicious chicken we'd ever eaten anywhere period. The dim sum was very, very fine with a burst of flavors that exploded in your mouth when biting into it.

Each dish required almost no sauce or accompaniment to enhance the flavors. The pork, crab, chicken, beef were all outstanding in very way.

I would put Lei Garden in the same category with top US restaurants like Picasso and Paul Robuchon in Vegas, Providence in LA, French Laundry in Yountville, etc.

This is the first and only meal I've ever had in China that really knocked my socks off.

Not cheap, high end LA prices, which is ten times what you pay at most top restaurants in Beijing. Well worth every cent.

Went to the one in JinBao Tower. After days of eating oily Chinese food at local restaurants, Lei Garden is a refreshing fare. They serve really good cantonese food. Ambience is good and service is attentive. Expect to pay higher end prices for th food though.

This chain is always a reliable choice if you are looking for quality cantonese fare. They have restaurants not just in Beijing, but also Shanghai, Singapore and originated from Hongkong. The typical starter of roast pork is always reliably good. The lobster bisque is lighter and just as flavorful as the western version. The roast duck is quite good. The fish noodles, fried pork buns, mango pudding were average. May return and test their dim sum next time. Overall i think it's good enough locals and tourists alike could try here
