Ibis Beijing Sanyuan
Ranked #2,728 of 6,568 Hotels in Beijing
Reviewed August 13, 2010

Located in the Sanyuan area it is close to all the foreigner needs. Malls, shops, restaurants in western style nearby. Many people were able to speak English. Embassies and official buildings are close. Even western TV programs. Cheap accomodation, clean and located in a nice area made it a perfect stay. Of course Ibis is nit 5 star but worth a try :-)

The ibis sanyuan is situated next to a metro station with the direct line to the beijing airport. We spent our last night in China in this hotel. The room was very clean and confortable, the breackfast was good with chinese and occidental food.

I traveled with my family to Beijing for 4 days. And the Ibis hotel looked like a good place to stay, mainly because it was so close to the airport and it's really close to the subway station, so no need to worry about dragging your bags miles away. It just right in front of you. Get out at exit D ( Phoenix City).

Disaster was already in the air when we arrived. Their check-in system crashed which caused them to... NOT receive any FOREIGN tourists.
We were sent to the Novotel hotel next door with a little note, saying that we could stay there until the system was fixed.
There we were at the Novotel ( since Novotel is rated 4 stars and Ibis is only 2 stars) We had a little argument with the guy at the desk who wanted to charge us the fees of the Novotel hotel while the guy at Ibis had insured us that we would get the same prices as Ibis. It took us like an hour and a half before we were all settled. We even had to call the guy from Ibis to the Novotel, let him explain everything, but let's say we were already exhausted from our plain ride and all this drama was... not well received at our side.

So there, we though everything was ok. We stayed there the first night in peace and started exploring the city until late. So when we got back we found a note on the floor. Asking us to leave the building tonight and to move back to Ibis. My Dad and brother were not thrilled about this, since we should have gotten notice of it earlier. It was already pretty late you see. So they got down, got angry at the guy from the front desk, and.... We could stay another night.
Next day we moved to Ibis, and it was quite a difference with Novotel. Rooms were smaller and I could pretty much hear everything next room was doing and saying.
But if all you're asking for is a bed and a good location to explore the city. This hotel isn't actually that bad.

Just don't go when the system crashes. :D

Good location behind Novotel at San Yuan Qiao station. 2 min walk to Subway.

Large hotel, a lot of people in and out which I didn't care for. Staff was cold but capable. Rooms facing the street are better, ones in the back face a office building. Room was OK, not that tiny as others have said. Bathroom was small though, and it was a capsule bathroom, a bit weird and squeaks a lot.

Clean, but definiately not as clean as can be. There is some dust around the windows as there is major construction going around both sides of the hotel. OK for a short stay if you need to be near airport/subway.

Breakfast for 25 CNY ok for the price...4am-12pm I think. good times for food.

Btw, a family room can fit three people, good deal, but no desk in those rooms.

I stayed for about two weeks here. Good value for money I felt here. Rooms are typical Ibis type and functional with all things working well. I felt happy to have booked though I did not know it first. Good for connecting to the airport as the train station for rapid train is just 5 minutes walk from here. Nice neighbourhood and restaurents.

On the 20th of March, we left our window slightly open for ventilation, unaware of the sandstorm that was raging Beijing, as a result, a thin layer of sand/dust settled on the desk beside the window. When we left the room in the afternoon, I specially placed all my belongings on the sitting area so that the attendant would be able to clean the desk. To my utter horror, when I returned at night, the layer of dust was UNTOUCHED! Look at the photos I took!

I called the reception and the receptionist was very unapologetic and said that since housekeeping had already knocked off, nothing could be done! This is utterly appalling! I had wanted to make a complaint on checking out, however, there was such a long queue that I decided against it as it would result in the other guests being delayed. Again, the hotel management has a problem in failing to understand that noon is probably the busiest time as most people are checking out at that time and yet only deploying ONE person at the reception!

Lastly, this is the first hotel I had ever stayed that I had to go down to the reception to obtain an additional pillow! Imagine, late at night, when you are all showered and ready to sleep, you realise the pillow is too thin and request for one, and the receptionist asks you to troop down to the lobby to get it YOURSELF! Even the dingy Indian hotels had better service!

I opted to stay at Ibis Sanyuan as Ibis Harbin had provided excellent service. It seems that Ibis Sanyuan is FAR from the standards of Harbin, definitely a shame to the Accor/Ibis brandname. Indeed, the service made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

The ibis was generally OK but it seemed that they cut too many corners considering that the price, while low, is still more than better hotels in other part of the city. The negatives: there were rust stains (even though the hotel is less than 18 months old) in the shower and worst of all, the toilet had not been cleaned properly. There was no conditioner or shower gel supplied, only one tiny bottle of shampoo. There were tea making facilities but instead of cups of glasses two tiny paper cups were provided. There were a few stains on the linoleum/wood floor.

On the plus side the staff were quite friendly and the location, near the Airport Express and subway line 10 is great during the day. At night though it was very difficult to get a taxi without walking to one of the bigger roads.
